This machine here is the brutal Opel Astra 4x4 ABF Turbo of Vasko Vajarov, coming from Bulgaria, and one of the Monsters we were more eager to bring to our Bongo HillClimb Monsters event in Skradin, Croatia. Stopped for a number of years due to bureaucratic reasons within their Motorsport Federation, we were more than happy to receive this absolute beast for the 2nd time on our event, powered by a VW ABF engine in Turbocharged form, producing 865Hp at a dizzying 10.100Rpm, all while weighing only 921Kg.
In an event where the whole Top 10 was dominated by brutally powerful machines among the very fastest in Europe (some with well over 1000Hp), the pure straight line performance of this Volkswagen powered 4x4 Monster was still standing out to everyone, and the Onboard footage here serves even more to put things into perspective. In what is pretty much a true one-off in the Motorsports world, and akin to a Group B Opel Astra, if there ever was one, this is how it looked. Placing as the 3rd Fastest event on the event this machine is reaching new heights and we´re eager to see how it will evolve.
