If you saw our video on how much video games cost to make, you might remember the segment we did on Brigador. If you haven’t seen it, basically it references Brigador’s lead developer, Hugh Monahan’s Steam post where he breaks down why they’re charging what they are for Brigador.
Well we were lucky enough to chat with Hugh himself at PAX West! In this video Hugh sheds more light into that now-famous post, and also shares tips for new indie game developers wanting to start their own studio.

Are you looking to participate in a game jam this year? If you’re not familiar with game jams, they’re basically hackathons, where game developers get together in groups (or solo), to develop games around a certain theme or restriction, within a set amount of time - usually a 2-7 days. Game jams can be in-person or online. Once the jam ends, participants usually play one anothers games, and winners are chosen.
We love game jams because they bring the gamedev community together, they help devs spark fresh ideas, and at the end of the jam, you have something that you can add to your portfolio. In this video well look at 7 game jams to try in 2020 and 2021.
