You may have seen images of guitars damaged from pick use and wondered, "will my strumming with a guitar pick damage my guitar?".
If you work as a full-time guitarist and you play with the same guitar night and day for years and years, then yes, maybe your guitar will eventually look like the damaged guitars you see in pictures.
But for maybe 90% of guitarists, using a guitar pick will only cause minor scratches on our guitars. So you really don't have to worry about using a pick with your guitar. Especially if you have a pickguard attached.
Another question people ask is, "does a guitar pick damage your strings?". The answer to that is no. You're not likely going to see any string damage from your pick unless you have really old strings or low-quality strings with some type of coating.
