For many tests, extensive modifications are necessary between different body states. However, there is a simple trick to ensure that the test stand can continue to be used to its full capacity. Instead of planning for additional test stand capacity in the event of bottlenecks, the use of mobile measurement technology ensures that work can continue on any test object at any time and that measurements can be taken immediately. Do not tie the measurement technology to the test stand, but to the test object for efficient and significantly lower invest. Our front ends have always followed this philosophy.

But the calculation with these hacks shown here is very easy to do with a calculator or in your head.
In words: Addtion of 2 decibel values:
* Divide the decibel values by 10. * Then calculate 10 to the power of this number - then add them together. Now back to the logarithmic system: * Calculate the log of the sum. Now we have "Bel" * Multiply the result by 10 and we get the deci-Bel value .
Average of decibel values: Minute: 4:44 The same as Addition, but before you the log you first have to divide the summation of all summands by the number of summands. (This is the way you calculate an average in any case)

The sound system's audio quality, in particular, is contributing increasingly to meeting this need. So far, testing and tuning automotive audio systems has relied heavily on frequency response measurements, which arguably are a vital sound quality indicator. However, the frequency response tells us only a part of the whole story. So, what more is there to sound quality perception? In our first seminar, we introduced a new quality score, and in the second, we showed its application in headphones sound assessment. This third seminar will present how to apply this MOS metric for evaluating audio quality in automotive audio systems by MDAQS (Multi-Dimensional Audio Quality Score). Meet us: www.head-acoustics.comHow We Hear Sounds | Voice Quality Online SeminarHEAD acoustics International2019-11-26 | This web seminar introduces the basics of the human ear, the physics of hearing and how it impacts voice quality testing.
The human sense of hearing is both fascinating and complex with many physiological and psychological aspects to consider. Understanding the psychology of human hearing is not an easy task and beyond the scope of voice quality testing today…but understanding how the human ear works from a physiological perspective has been well documented for many years.
In speech communication, many different metrics can be used to quantify ‘good’ and ‘bad’ performance. Voice is a very difficult signal to analyze and things like background noise, reverberation, echo and room acoustics can have a huge influence on how that voice is understood and interpreted.
Topics to be covered include: • Introduction and overview of common metrics • The test methods and how they are applied • Relating Indexes to practical intelligibility and voice quality

In speech communication, we have slowly transitioned from circuit based calls (think landlines/early cell phone technology/etc.) to packet switch calls (think VoIP/VoLTE). Many of our goals remain the same: we still desire great speech AND conversational quality. But the underlying technology now requires more diligence in a few areas when tuning and testing a device.
As DSP technology has become more cost effective to deploy, it has become possible for communication devices to utilize this power to actively suppress background noise in voice calls. This has improved the quality of voice calls significantly in recent years provided the noise suppression techniques only reduce noise and not affect the voice. Quantifying how much noise suppression has been applied and evaluating its impact on voice quality is important to ensure that the voice call is indeed better with noise suppression, not worse.
This web seminar will cover topics including: • Evaluating noise suppression using 3QUEST • What are the differences between ETSI ES 202 396-3 and ETSI TS 103 106 • Background Noise Transmission (BGNT) techniques
This web seminar introduces to different noise suppression measurement techniques used in voice quality testing.
Since there are many noise suppression methods used in voice quality testing, this web seminar has been divided up in to 2 sessions. Session 1 will cover:
• Why is Noise Suppression Important? • Using single value calculations to quantify noise suppression: D Value, Acoustic Noise Rejection (ANR), and SNRi (Signal to Noise Ratio Improvement per ITU G.160)
Echo has been identified since the beginning of voice communications as one of the most annoying impairments that users can encounter. Nothing can end a phone call faster than persistent echo! Since echo is such a nuisance, there are many different ways to characterize echo and understand how an echo canceller is performing.
Topics to be covered by this webinar on echo testing methods include:
• What is echo? • How does delay affect echo? • Review of different metrics (basic to advanced) used to characterize echo
What are Mean Opinion Scores (MOS)? What is the difference between subjective and objective MOS? This web seminar introduces to commonly used MOS metrics in modern voice quality testing.
One of the main goals of many voice quality test programs is to come up with a single, easy to interpret metric that can provide information about how ‘good’ or ‘bad’ a voice signal. As discussed in previous web seminars, it is not easy to objectively quantify voice; therefore, many other metrics have been introduced that try to analyze specific voice quality attributes. In recent years both technology and methodologies have been introduced that can now calculate such a single metric which is referred to as a Mean Opinion Score, more commonly referred to as a MOS.

Why is double talk an important metric for voice quality testing? This web seminar introduced to double talk analysis techniques and how to deploy them. In a normal, live conversation between individuals it is natural that some double talk occurs. In voice communication systems ensuring that double talk can seamlessly occur is a very difficult thing to do. Processing issues such as delay, device response time, voice activity detection (VAD), and many others can make real-time two way communication almost impossible.
