Oil BurnerThis is a Bilge Blower I picked up from a Boating Shop to test with a waste oil Burner as a forced air supply. Drip and forced air burners Rely on air for combustion and suitable blowers can be tricky to find for some people. To see my other burner vids and tutorials, go here: youtube.com/user/glumpy10/videos
While these blowers supply a decent amount of air, they don't supply it at very high pressure so using large, less restrictive air tubes will help with maximum airflow and output from your waste oil burner. The burner as can be seen only cost $20 from a boating supply place. There are various sizes and brands available and can be had online as well.
For home and shed heating as well as Melting aluminium cans and maybe some larger material, these blowers would be ideal. They are very quiet and the heat the can produce form a waste oil burner would be sufficient for most peoples purposes.

You can charge your Phone, power and charge a laptop, cordless tool battery and many other things as I show in this Video. Not everything works of course but pretty much everything I have come across with switch mode power supply's will.
The polarity can make a difference and some things will run at half mains voltage meaning less panels Required. Things tend to either work or not but I have personally NOT had anything let out the magic smoke nor have I heard of anyone that has.
Also show what direct DC and do for arcing and welding.

I scaled down a design I had in mind and built this as a test platform to see if this idea for a new Design Vegetable oil Burner would work. It DID!
I'll do some more R&D on this with a bigger blower and modify it to be something useful for cooking. This would run for many hours off of the small battery shown. I have not measured fuel consumption but as always that depends entirely on the output of heat you want.

No power neededOil Burner2021-08-23 | This vid shows how a waste oil burner can be made that is good for heating and cooking. This Burner is an adaptation of the draft or Drip burner design. It can be filled and left to burn without the need for any drip feeding or it can use a dosing pump for sustained and unattended operation.
It will run for around an hour once filled but can be much longer depending how fast and how much heat it is putting out. It will burn ANY waste oil or melted animal fat and does not need any power to operate.
The primary air controls the burn rate and therefore heat output. The design has NO critical dimensions, just use whatever scrap you have and Build it. If you follow the principals of operation it will work and you can get an understanding of how these things really operate and the principals behind them.

Thanks to everyone for the support and messages over the years. I hope not to let you down with my future offerings and to grow the channel up to and past 100K subs.
This vid shows how controlling waste Oil Burner air and fuel can make for stable running burners. Drip feed is good and well for short runs when you are with the burner but to run it for many hours without constant adjustment, some automation and control is needed. I use a cheap Pulse type car Fuel pump with an electronic Cycle timer. This is the same principal used by the Chinese diesel heaters and one I showed may years ago in other vids.
By being able to feed a precise amount of waste oil into the burner, variations from oil viscosity and tank level changing are avoided. You can also take the waste oil fuel from ground level which makes handling much easier. The Blower is Controlled with a PWM controller available of Fleabay and other similar sites to match the air output to the fuel pump to produce a constant , stable flame.
I hope you all find this video and the ones to come as entertaining as before and thank you again for all the kind messages of support, concern and encouragement. It was much appreciated and extremely Humbling.
I hope to be doing many more waste Oil, Solar and other videos on a regular basis from now on and improve my content as I get back into the swing of things.Pouring Molten Aluminium on my Balls!Oil Burner2016-12-23 | After melting aluminium in the oil burner powered furnace, I pour it on my balls to make so me unique and artistic castings and live to tell the tale!
The balls I am using are know as water balls or water Crystals and are available all over fleabay. They are tiny beads which swell up when soaked in water. The molten aluminium I melt in the furnace goes around the balls to form interesting shapes and patterns as it solidify's.
The aluminium is mainly from scrap car parts I melted down and am now re melting to make these castings. I am going to keep some other media in mid and try doing some aluminium casting with that for something different.

See my other 80 Vids for how to build these burners and how they work. Please don't forget to like, comment and share this vid around.
Waste oil provides a cheap and powerful fuel for melting all metals from aluminium casting through to cast iron. This was the first time I have fired an oil burner in a long time but it lit right up and without trouble.
As it's been a while I thought I'd go over the setup of how this works yet again as I am always getting questions and maybe some people will not have seen my vids before.
The Aluminium melted much quicker in the furnace with the waste oil burner firing it up than with the wood I tried last time. I could have done better with the wood but using an oil burner if far easier and provides loads more heat with better control.
The furnace is made of Common house bricks. I used a clay and sand mix as a refractory but will re do it using some wire as a binder for it to stick to so it does not crumble as much.Aluminium melting with simple wood fired furnace with Extra safety tips!Oil Burner2016-11-16 | How to melt aluminium with an easy built furnace using wood for fuel. Sorry to all the environmental nazis and saftey crybabies but I haven't hurt or killed myself by not wearing gloves or breathing in a bit of smoke mush as you all predicted.... endlessly.
I'm back to do more vids for you to cry and sook about while ignoring so many other things that are actually significant to your complaining that you choose to overlook in order to elevate your own non existent status.
I built the furnace using common house bricks and a clay sand mix. I fired the furnace up just blowing air in through a gap I left in the bricks with a Jumping castle Blower. Being wood fired it melted the aluminium much slower than it would have with an oil burner and not anywhere near as well. That said, It did work and could be made to work even better for those that wanted to use the wood fired method.
I made a mistake in that I should have raised the crucible up on a bit of metal so the air was not directly blowing on and cooling the crucible. Normally with an oil fired burner this wouldn't be a problem As I designed the setup where the crucible would be hit with flame but I was a bit out of my depth with wood. :0)
Next Vid I'll go back to what I know and fire the furnace up with Oil burning power and really melt that Ally and a lot more. I'm also thinking about lining the furnace so I can use it as a scrapping furnace.
Thank you to all that have messaged and asked about me while I have been away from doing Vids. Your concern and thought was very much appreciated and touching through a very difficult time and meant a great deal to me. I hope to be able to stay motivated and do more vids with a range of different subjects.Turbo Burn Barrel. Fan forced fast rubbish incineration, No SmokeOil Burner2016-04-18 | Hot rodding the traditional Barrel burner to new levels of speed, clean burning and heat output. By using fan forced air from a used jumping castle blower, the traditional barrel burner is able to burn materials that are normally very smokey and dirty to burn and allows them to burn clean.
The forced air accelerates the burn time making it easy to get through large amounts of material much quicker than normal draft fed burn barrels. THe high heat generated means damp materials are also easily disposed of and the abundant oxygen supply and swirling motion means smoke and air are well mixed to burn thoroughly.
This makes a setup like this ideal for people living next to whinny neighbors and possible disposal of said neighbors much more clean and efficient.
This burn was done without any additional oil supply save for the oil poured in as shown.
For higher rates of waste disposal, 2 drums could be welded together end on end and fitted with dual burners.

This shows the test run of the prototype. It is designed for heating things like hotplates or giving a more fireplace like output. It is suited to heating broad areas or items and melting large pieces of scrap metal such as Aluminum. It could also be adapted for an oil powered spit roast.
The construction is simply a tube inserted into the outer extinguisher bottle casing right to the bottom and a notch cut out. This makes the flame come back on the outside of the inlet tube as well as the outer extinguisher bottle for a double vaporisation of whatever waste oil is being burnt.

Please see my channel for ALL my other burner vids and plans.
Using my old 44 gallon furnace, metal melting, waste oil burning drum, I came up with a way to get rid of garden and other household rubbish quickly and cheaply using a Jumping castle blower and some pipe.
The blower simply introduces a swirling air vortex into the drum where it can burn the waste material with no smoke and at high temps to ensure quick and through incineration.
With the addition of some waste oil, the fire becomes even hotter making it perfect for burning green vegetable matter such as garden waste or other damp materials.Aluminium car parts melt with oil Burner simple furnaceOil Burner2015-12-17 | Firing up the oil Powered scrapping furnace to melt down a bunch of old Subaru Aluminum parts. See the other 70 odd vids on my channel for other burner fireups, construction and tutorials. Using a modest output from my DIY waste oil burner, I was able to melt these parts down quick and yield 25 Kg of clean aluminum. This Simple furnace that cost nothing to build would be fast and powerful enough to melt down a LOT of material in a continuous process in scrap yard and other places with quantities of "Dirty" ( steel contaminated) aluminum scrap.
Running on Free waste Vegetable or old engine oil, the thing is very cost effective and certainly produces plenty of heat for this foundry.
I get these parts from my fathers scrap yard. Having steel parts which are difficult and time consuming to separate, the scrap yards will only pay steel prices which is next to nothing. As clean aluminum it is worth around $1.50 per kilo here. The "aloominum" as the Americans say, is also good for casting in home foundry into other objects .

Why chop wood and all the hard work associated with that when you can have an oil burning, fire breathing, self agitating stove like this beautiful beast?
Not sure what the burner output was but suffice to say it was substantial and would far outweigh anything obtainable with wood or probably even coal.
I think this is a world first showing of a self agitating stove or heater. In editing this vid my daughter came in, looked and said " So that's what was making the windows shake and rattle yesterday? I thought it was a load of trucks going past!" Yes, this is an oil burning pot belly on steroids!
In my next Vid, i'll demonstrate the amazing heat this thing produces by melting aluminum in it and for adding to it's multi purpose practicality. I'll then convert it to a proper heating unit suitable for indoor heating applications.

While this is only a theoretical demonstration, it does show the viability and power of an oil burner in such a practical use. If there is interest in this, I will do a full and practical conversion on this stove to make it suitable for home or shed use by fully enclosing the burner.

This burner featured on a couple of previous vids including a how to build tutorial . Please see my vid list on my channel to see how this burner was constructed.
A standard water heater could be used with this burner or it could replace a gas or oil fired burner in a furnace for home or shed heating. The burner will run any sort of waste oil or fluids to provide free fuel and heat for whatever heating purpose is needed. Here it is running on used vegetable oil at an air pressure of about 30 PSI. As can be seen, Even on waste oil it lights quickly and burns cleanly giving plenty of smoke free heat. How to Light and run horizontal Waste burnerOil Burner2015-11-02 | Lighting and running of a waste oil burner in the horizontal position using a mix of waste engine and Vegetable oil for free fuel. Please don't forget to check out all the other vids on my channel and subscribe for updates. This burner is seen on my other vids normally running in the vertical Position. After being asked by several viewers about them running horizontally I did this vid to show it is possible and they run just as well in either orientation. As with starting all these style Burners, Preheating is important. In this vid I show the warm up process using wood but have also used old rag, LPG and paper.
The fuel used was a mix of used engine oil after doing a change on my vehicle and used vegetable oil. Both burn just as well and the burners can also be run on ATF, Diesel turps and other flammable liquids.
These waste oil burners are easy to construct, use minimal resources, cheap to set up and cost nothing to run.Making a metal melting furnace from DIY oil burnerOil Burner2015-10-17 | Here I use a Waste oil burner as a small aluminum furnace with crucible and directly melting in the burner itself. This setup would be ideal for DIY'ers who have occasional need to melt small amounts of Aluminum ( up to 10 lbs) but do not want to go to the expense of a refractory furnace or have the space for one.
Using any form of waste oil WVO, WMO, ATF etc, aluminum can be melted in the burner either directly or in a crucible. The burner is made from an old 9 Kg gas bottle and is featured in my other vids. The Crucible is simply some thick wall 4" pipe with a piece of 1/4" plate welded on the bottom.
The waste oil burner is running on used cooking oil but can run any other combustible liquid. The fuel is blown in by the air stream from the blower and is directed in a swirling motion around the edge of the burner. The crucible heat up quickly and the aluminum is rapidly reduced to a pourable or castable liquid.

The burner could be used as a replacement Water or home heating unit which would utilise free fuel in the form of waste oil.
The burner will run on waste engine, vegetable, transmission or other oils. It can also run on Kerosene, Diesel, and new or used solvents such as Turps. With just a elbow and a nipple fitting, the Spray burner unit can be fitted to a tube or other support and function as either a new or replacement burner in any number of heating applications.
The burner as shown in previous Vids is quick and easy to light and also very controllable in flame and heat output. The burner was made with off the shelf common plumbing fittings and uses no special nozzles or parts.
Please refer to my other construction vid on my channel before asking about how this burner is built or what parts it uses as these and it's construction have already been specifically covered.Instant Light up Oil Burner Construction and parts for easy build.Oil Burner2015-09-28 | A very easy to build Oil burner that lights easily and requires very few parts and little effort to build. Please share, reddit, like and comment on this vid and don't forget to check out all the other vids on my channel. As can be seen in the vid, this oil burner is very easy to assemble from just a few easy to get and cheap parts. It lights up very easily even on waste Vegetable oil. The burner comprises 2 main parts, the oil burner assembly and the pressurized Fuel tank.
Any old pressure vessel will do for the pressurised oil feed such as old LPG tanks because the pressure required to operate this burner is only around 20 PSI.
The fittings are all for 1/4"copper or PEX tubing and are easily available at industrial suppliers, hardware stores or even some car parts places. They are cheap and require no special tools to assemble the burner.

PLEASE read the rest of this description and look at the other vids on my channel of this burner before asking questions about how it operates, what it does or what it can be used for.
Waste oil burner designed for melting scrap aluminium and maybe copper as well as foundary use. The burner will run on any waste oil including used engine oil, waste vegetable oil, transmission fluid or even liquid lard. The test was successful however in that the burner fired up easily even with nearly every less than ideal factor against it and ran well given the low air supply. I expect it to be a very different beast when fed sufficient Oxygen.Aluminium Casting using the Mini Metal FurnaceOil Burner2015-09-25 | Melting Aluminium in a crucible in the mini Melting furnace. To see all my vids, go to youtube.com/user/glumpy10/videos. Please feel free to rededit this clip! This furnace is very cheap and easy to make and is ideally suited to those that just want to cast the occasional part and do not want to invest in proper refractory or build a complete furnace.
The crucible was made from some thick wall pipe welded to some steel Plate. The burner is the drip style which uses blown air to push the oil into the preheated furnace consisting of a 60L metal drum. The oil burner provides more than sufficient heat to melt aluminum or copper. The brickwork around the drum act primarily as a heat shield rather than for any insulation value.
The drum has stood up to over half a dozen fire ups now so is good for a decent amount of time before it eventually burns through.
A basic aluminum plate was cast but once the aluminum is melted, a casting of any type can be made in any mold. How to make a Mini metal Melting FurnaceOil Burner2015-09-22 | This Aluminum furnace is powered by a simple waste oil burner and easily and simply constructed from an old 60L oil drum. to see more of my videos, please go to youtube.com/user/glumpy10 This furnace is suitable for melting Aluminum Soda cans, Scrap casting and other parts to be cast into other objects. Because of the high heating power of waste oil, The metal can be melted in as little as 5 minutes and ready to pour as an aluminum casting.
The furnace uses no refractory for insulation or other expensive materials. The burner is easy to construct and is shown here running on used vegetable oil but will also happily run on waste engine oil, diesel or any other combustible liquid.Instant light spraying oil Burner from cheap, off the shelf fittingsOil Burner2015-09-19 | This burner is easy to build with off the shelf and easily found parts. It works similar to a babbington type but is a simpler design still. While many pressurized burners use expensive Delevan siphon type nozzles, this Spray burner can be made using regular fittings and can deliver a wide range of outputs.
It requires only one valve for the fuel flow and can run on a variety of fuels from waste oil to diesel, kerosene or turps. It is shown running on and lighting up on straight used veg oil with no additives. The tank is pressurized to 15-20 PSI but can be higher or lower according to the heat output required.

Used oil is an excellent source of free energy and an alternative diesel fuel. Please check out the other Vids on my channel youtube.com/user/glumpy10/videos Filtering oil is essential for use in Diesel engines as an alternative fuel. It is best to filter down to 5UM ( micron) or less in order to make the fuel clean enough for vehicle use. This method of using felt material is very cheap and effective in making the finer filters in your processing last much longer.
As well as removing the majority of dirt and unwanted particles, the felt also removes unwanted fats that can condense and block on board vehicle filters. Pre filtering like this is an alternative to cleaning used or waste oil when there is not enough time or reserve to let the waste oil settle which also results in very good cleaning of the oil. This works best over the warmer part of the year so the oil needs to be left 3-6 months depending on the season it is collected.
I will be doing more Vids on running vehicles on used oil soon so please subscribe for updates as they are released. How to build a Water heater to run on Free fuel.Oil Burner2015-04-30 | This is how I made a water heater from an old gas hot water service and converted it to run on waste oil instead of gas. Please see my other vids for Burner construction and running waste oil burners. I have used this setup as shown on other vids when my electric hot water heater failed. This heater setup has fast heat up and can be set to keep pace with the demands of a normal shower hot water requirement.
The system could easily be set up in an off grid or prepper type location as it only needs a small amount of 12V power to supply the car blower I used here. The burner runs on any waste oil and is gravity fed without the need for Nozzles, pumps or compressors.
As well as providing Domestic hot water, the output can also be used in a home heating system which is what I plan to set up for my home this winter. It could also be used for an outdoor shower, to heat water for animal troughs, to heat a spa or small swimming pool or other uses to replace gas or electric how water heating.

In order to reach my goal of making a 600Kw waste oil burner I had to increase the fuel supply and also get more air into the waste oil burner. On this vid it ran a mix of Used engine oil and waste Vegetable oil.
I pressurized the oil Tank to help push the oil out quickly and consistently. By increasing the outlet size of the burner I reduced the back pressure so more waste oil could be burnt and heat created.
The burner handled the heat output of 600Kw easily but I maxed out the fuel supply. I have increased the fuel line diameter to half inch and my next trial of them used vegetable oil Burner will e to attempt to go to 750Kw heating power.
I do not think the burner will handle much more than this if it even gets there but I plan on making a burner to attempt to get a full 1000 KW output. Most powerful waste oil Burner, 600KW heating power!Oil Burner2015-04-14 | This is a new Waste oil burner Putting out a Massive 600KW. It is the most powerful Home made oil burner I am aware of. The output of the burner is a full 3" and the flame was over 4ft long at full tilt. It runs on Free waste engine oil WMO or used Vegetable oil WVO and puts out a Massive 600Kw or consumes 1 Litre of oil per minute at full power. My previous best was a 380 Kw burner but the free heating power of this one is much higher.
This is just a sneak preview of the burner running up to full heat. I'll put the full video up showing the new oil burner and the pressurized fuel system as soon as I can get the footage edited.

Wate oil burners are perfect for delivering free heat and energy for homes, workshops and garages and for other heating applications such as metal melting and fabrication.
On this test of the burner, I deleted the deflector plate at the end of the air tube and fired the air straight down into the waste oil pool. Startup of the burner was not nearly as easy as normal although I suspect there was some water in the burning chamber and possibly the waste oil fuel.
I was able to maintain an unexpectedly low output however although I may be able to get the output even lower with the deflector plate.

This setup would be ideal for one off metal casting where a permanent foundry wasn't needed or for scrapping to seperate Aluminium from other metals. The furnace provides lots of Free heat from used oil and costs nothing to build either making it a very Cheap DIY way to melt Metal.
For this run of the furnace I put some fire bricks on top and covered it all to bring up the heat in the furnace. The oil burner worked perfectly as usual and put out a lot of heat. The Dirt from the garden works amazingly well for a limited use one off furnace. I did punch holes it it at the end but I'll try patching it up or just casting a whole new furnace.
Doesn't take long and costs nothing.

Quite a contrast of the output the same setup is doing here.
I thought it would be a very difficult if not impossible challenge but it seems it may be a lot more doable than what I first thought. I have run this oil burner as can be seen in my other heater and Furnace Vid at outputs around 150 to 200Kw so to run it this low is the same setup was surprising. Not like I really changed anything on the oil burner it self or did anything special to enable the oil burning to sustain at such a low output.
I'm not sure what the purpose of this would be in the context of metal melting we were talking about but it may be useful as a demonstration to other people whom are interested in using an oil burner for home heating, as a small shed heater or want a low output waste oil heater for other applications.
I was trying another configuration of this oil burner for a different type of burner I have in mind which could be modified to give free heat using waste oil in other applications.
Next i'll try downsizing one of these oil burners for home and shed heating applications or other furnace or foundry uses where small amounts of heat or flame are required.iPhone burn and melt test in furnaceOil Burner2015-03-19 | iPhone (not 6) put in a furnace and hit with a 300Kw waste oil burner to see how quick this iPhone would melt and burns. Other IPhone tests and IPhone destruction coming soon. Check out the other vids on my channel for more High power burners and melting furnaces. youtube.com/user/glumpy10/videos
I have seen a number of iPhone vids on YT and they all seemed a bit soft and frankly pointless in destroying a new phone to see if it would survive what clearly nothing could. I got an original Iphone of my son who had stopped using it many years ago and was no good even for parts and put it in a real furnace powered by a 300Kw waste oil burner as featured on my other Vids.
The iPhone burnt quite quickly and thoroughly and I did not notice any of the burning characteristics of the lithium battery burning I have seen in other vids. Perhaps because it had not been charged in years
I probably only ran the burner about half power if that to avoid the iPhone being totally obscured from view by the flames. I'm hoping to get some more old iPhones off people to do some more Vids of them being dropped in molten aluminum or in other much hotter furnaces but it seems most people just throw their old iPhones out when they replace them.Melting soda cans and aluminium in furnace made from dirt Waste oil fueledOil Burner2015-03-18 | Furnace for Melting soda cans and scrap aluminium made from Dirt with waste oil Burner heater. Please see the other Burner and furnace Vids on my channel Here:youtube.com/user/glumpy10/videos
This is a simple and cheap to build and run furnace suitable for melting aluminium cans and metals up to copper that runs on waste oil for heating and powering the furnace. It is perfect for one off applications where a quick and easy Oil burning setup is needed. The Burner is the same oil burner as featured in my other vaporising designs and is simple and cheap to set up.Exploding Scrap Metal Furnace Oil Burner BackfiringOil Burner2015-02-28 | Here's one for the Worry warts and safety zealots to have a field day with and Really have a whinge! While Filming melting Aluminium soda Cans, I accidentally let my oil burner have too much oil and too little air. When I hit the air, to much oil was vaporized and the thing backfired. Click here for my other burner and furnace vids youtube.com/user/glumpy10/videos
The backfiring was quite impressive in how loud it was but otherwise completely harmless and pretty fun! I'll have to have another crack at it on another vid.
For all the ignorant dramatist's, These burners CANNOT possibly explode. They have too much open area in the inlet and outlet to allow a pressure rise great enough for that to happen. The 90o bend was barely blown off the top and it just sits there and falls off easily anyway. No matter what you " know" through your inexperience, you would not blow one of these up unless you used proper explosive.
I'll upload the rest of the vid in a few days to show the rest of the Modifications I made to my waste oil fueled scrapping furnace. I'm trying some different setups with the burner in different places to see which way the oil burner works best and provides the best heat for the job.
If you like his vid you'll probably like my others as well so please have a look and subscribe to my channel.Scrapping Furnace DIY foundary melts Aluminium engineOil Burner2015-02-24 | Waste oil Fired DIY furnace melting aluminum off steel engine components for scrapping. The burner was fired with waste Vegetable oil which is pushed into the burner by the forced air from the blower. The engine I'm melting is a small 2 stroke Victa which would be familiar to all Ozzies and a lot of people in other countries as well. See all my other Burner vids here: youtube.com/user/glumpy10
When selling metal for scrap, If you have any more than a few percent of steel in the Aluminum, they pay a much lower steel rate rather than the higher Aluminum price.
I figure on an aluminum 4 Cyl engine, I should be able to melt it down to separate the steel and improve the scrap value from about $20 to 70+ . Not bad for a few minutes work and some free fuel.
I'll be bringing you more of these melting /scrapping vids and some new burner designs soon!

Super special Thanks to Dave Maher for the Fantastic new Titles and Sign off. Really Very much appreciated. Thank You Dave! This Burner is far and away the loudest I have ever Built. It was quiet at low air settings but once I opened up the blower the thing was so much like an old 60's Turbo jet coming onto the after burner it was scary! Even my distant neighbours would have been concerned.
This Vid shows how easy it can be to make an oil burner out of old junk. All I did to convert the the muffler to a waste oil burning fire breather was drill a hole to put the oil feed in. From there it was pre load some oil into the thing, preheat it with another burner , add some air and off she went.
I am wondering if the Multiple Chambers and metal inside the muffler would allow it to be submerged in water to act as a heater while the exhaust was directed to a secondary workload.
I'm going to try an experiment here to see if anyone reads these descriptions. If you have seen this, Please put " I Do" at the end of your comment, ( or make it your Comment) so I know if anyone is reading this extra info I include. :0)Practical Waste oil powered water heater for houseOil Burner2015-01-21 | This is how I made free and endless Emergency hot water for our house after the hot water tank split flooding our laundry. It uses an old gas hwater heater with the element removed and replaced by one of my waste oil burners. You can see the construction Tutorials and other burners and heaters on my channel Index page. I wasn't going to pay $500 for a new unit to do us maybe a couple of months till we move out and the place is demolished so for a few nights until I found a good used heater at the right price, I rigged this up. I would be great for something like disaster or prepping situations where it could be solar powered for the blower and use any old waste oil.
Actually my kids loved it because it gave us endless FREE hot water which they never had before. Our old heater was a bit small anyway so showers have always had to be quick. They had never heard me say take as long as you like before. Much to my surprise, while still trying to keep the heating modest to avoid any problems with the plastic fittings and Hose I had the unit rigged up with, The heater not only kept up with but exceeded demand. The waster was near boiling by the time I shut the burner down after everyone else had their shower and I went for mine.
Much to my amazement my Kids actually asked If I could rig something like this up properly for out next house.Veg Oil use Danger!Oil Burner2015-01-12 | Spontaneous combustion of some veg oil soaked rags I had sitting round in the sun. The Veg oil breaking down causes a heat buildup in the rag which causes them to catch fire. See my other Vid on using Veg oil in high powered burners, heaters and Aluminum melting furnaces here:youtube.com/user/glumpy10/videos
The rags were used to wipe up various oil spills over a few weeks. During a hot day when luckily my daughter and I were outside cleaning around the house, she smelled and saw smoke and alerted me to it.
Straight after I filmed this Clip I picked up the rag and threw it on the ground and it burst into flames. Be careful with these oil soaked rags particularly in summer and don't leave them in heaps where they could light up and catch fire.Torpedo Oil Burner Build fire upOil Burner2015-01-07 | Torpedo Waste oil burner Showing it's first time being lit and running on used Vegetable oil. This is the Burner shown in the waste oil burner tutorial . Please see the other vids on my channel for other designs and being used to melt metal and heat water. youtube.com/user/glumpy10/videos
This burner puts out plenty of heat despite it's compact size and quiet operation. It's perfect for adaptation as home heater, a Shed heater, for a Boiler or a furnace. It is easy to build as shown on the previous Vid, lights up easily and burns very cleanly and steadily.

The Burner is easy to construct with basic methods and can be built quickly and easily. It is easy to light and outputs significant heat from any waste oil. Please see the other vids on my channel for more Burner builds and dramatic fire ups. This Burner runs on any waste oil and is suitable for a range of used from a home or shed heater, water heating, metal melting and scrapping, Aluminium Can Melting, and general heating applications.
The burner is made from a steel bottle or pipe with another pipe running through the centre which is drilled with holes to pass the combustion air and oil.
Measurements are unimportant as they are not critical. The principal of operation is scaleable to any size units.
The next video will show the burner in operation and first fire up. Please see the other vids on my channel for more burner designs and infomation on how to operate and run them.Waste Oil Burner BBQOil Burner2014-12-31 | Waste oil Burner Powered BBQ. Another one of the many things you can do with waste oil Burners. I was doing a vid with the burner and my Mrs came out and started Cooking on the Gas BBQ. As we all know, Gas is for sissys! I grabbed my steak and set about cooking it on a real BBQ, an Oil burner powered one! See my other burner vids and tutorials here: youtube.com/user/glumpy10/videos My daughter was a bit doubtful about what I was doing. I persuaded her to have a taste of my steak. Bad move. I went to get a drink and half of it was gone. In all sincerity, oil burner BBQ steak is awesome.
Unfortunately as can be seen in the vid, cast iron is no match for the power of these things so I'll have to get out my big steel 1/2" plate and give that a go.
The output from the burner was a bit high so I just cooked the steak like as if it were a target top hotplate where the heat is in the centre and it gets cooler the further out you go.
This worked so well I think I'll do a series of Cooking with oil burner power Vids.Easy, fastest Build oil burner Ever!Oil Burner2014-12-29 | This is the simplest, easiest to build and construct oil burner I have seen or I think is possible. I dug these vids out of the archive and it is my first burner and first fire up. You can see one of my early vids where I later hacked a hole in a metal drum, stuck the burner in and it boiled another tin of water very well. See my other burner vids and tutorials here: youtube.com/user/glumpy10/videos
This waste oil burner is simply a piece of steel pipe with a bit of copper tube stuck in the side. The oil is fed in the copper tube and the air from the vac blows the oil through into the preheated oven which is normally wood fired.
The oil burner supply's vastly more heat than can be obtained with wood in the same period and of course is smoke free unlike burning solid fuel. Although simple, the burner can be used for a variety of uses from a furnace to a space or water heater and offers the advantage of utilizing a free, waste fuel for energy.EASY build water heater for emergency or survival use on waste oilOil Burner2014-12-22 | This was a test to see how much heat rise I could get out of a simple tube in tube water heater. The temp rise was sufficent that this would be easy to construct from junk and provide hot water in an emergency or infrequent use situation. See my other burner vids and tutorials here: youtube.com/user/glumpy10/videos.
The heater is powered by a waste oil burner fueled by waste vegetable oil. The amount of energy input for the temp rise is very inefficent but still worthwhile considering the simplicity of the setup, the fact it uses free fuel and the flow rate of the water. A 12V blower could easily be used instead of a mains powered unit.
Having the copper tube enveloped in flame gives much greater efficency than the normal thing people do of wrapping the tube which creates a very small contact area and leaves the majority of the tube unexposed to any heat and in fact able to radiate and gained energy out.
Despite the inefficency, this heater would be very workable for occasional use in a shack or other application where low cost and infrequent use required .

See my other burner vids and tutorials here: youtube.com/user/glumpy10/videos Made from a 205L drum and using a waste oil burner featured in my other channel videos, this furnace can take small engines, gearboxes and other large pieces of metal containing scrap aluminium which can be easily melted and seperated.
The burner is the waste oil type and provides more than enough power to melt the largest and heaviest pieces. It's output is well inexcess of 300Kw and it used Waste vegetable oil or engine oil or any other combustable liqud.
The furnace would be perfect for melting aluminium Soda cans in bulk as well as lawn mower engines and chassis. The large capacity of the drum means multiple pieces of raw scrap can be melted before the remains need to be cleaned out.
The furnace is also capeable of melting copper so the aluminium from things like starter motors would be melted off then the waste oil burner turned up if needed to melt and seperate the copper as well. If the drum was insulated with some refractory or kiln wash, the effeciency of the unit would be much higher.
The furnace is demonstrated in it's simplest lowest cost form as a proof of concept that would well exceede the needs of most home users.Shed heater for $20 from scrap.Oil Burner2014-12-18 | Construction and Operating demonstration of a very easy and cheap to Build waste Oil powered space or shed heater. See my other burner vids and tutorials here: youtube.com/user/glumpy10/videos Powered by Waste oil burner, this heater can put out an enormous amount of heat and costs nothing to run. It can operate on Waste Vegetable oil, used engine oil or any other dry waste oil, even melted lard. The burner design allows for nearly any non volatile fuel to be used and will burn very cleanly with no visable emissions.
The burner is shown on my other vids and is very easy to build from scrap and requires the minimum of tools and skill. It is simply enclosed in an old 205L drum and vented. I discovered that locating the Chiminey low instead of high in the drum makes for much more efficent heat transfer into the area to be heated and could be increased even further with the use of a fan of some sort.
