First off, there's a damage "cap" per hammer falter. You can't really exceed that. Also from Update 6, you can't damage the Dark Lord unless he's faltered or doing his green eye attack, so once he recovers, all other damage is ignored, even if you could technically hit him. As for activating the glitch, you gotta clip inside his collision with the hammer since his hitbox is smaller, and since you can't jump inside collision, you need to use the meathook to activate chrono strike. And finally, because of that cap, you can't do the phase 2/3 one cycles with the glitch, gotta do it the normal way to reduce the amount of damage instances. It's STILL faster than the normal strat, considering all of that.
Setup 1. Holding a non-chaingun weapon, pull up weapon wheel 2. After the timeslow fully kicks in, hold your mod button then swap to chaingun using the wheel 3. After the chaingun is done being pulled out, release your mod button Now you can do this glitch at any time until you hit a load screen Execution 1. When using the hammer to stun Dark Lord, hold forward so that you land inside his collision 2. Hold your mod button to hook onto the Dark Lord (this is to activate Chrono Strike) 3. Make sure you are NOT holding any movement direction 4. Swap to Chaingun while still holding the mod button 5. Dash before the SSG is fully stowed away

Since it's directly affected by FPS, any timeslow just exacerbates the glitch. Weapon Wheel timeslow doesn't work that well since you can't dash with it up, but Chrono Strike on the other hand does.
