Son of a Priest
Hymn to Pan by Aleister Crowley, invocation by Son of a Priest. Music arranged and performed by Brutal Wounds. The coming together of the words and music was a magickal accident, after recording Crowley's Hymn to Pan at New Cut studios in Bristol I experimented with the Brutal Wounds instrumental version of 'Death Poem' a song we had recorded just before the 2020 lockdown and was amazed how the two went together so well. I hope you enjoy this rendition of Crowley's incredible piece and I hope that I have done justice to his work.

Me Within Me - Kundalini Meditation
Sit in Easy pose or on a chair keep your back straight, unsupported but relaxed. Interlace your hands in Venus lock in front of the heart. Close your eyes and repeat the mantra.
Babalon Initiation
“As energies continued to rise and play within me after taking part in a powerful Mass of Babalon, a four-day initiation unfolded. This is not the experience, which was far beyond words, but the footprints of the experience. The words came forth as spoken here during an embodied experience of unity with/as Our Lady Babalon – I then transcribed and recorded them with SonofaPriest as a gift back to the energy they came from, and to those at the Mass of Babalon in which its journey began. If they resonate with you, then I offer them as a gift for you too.”

Music written & performed by SonofaPriest. Words experienced and delivered by Sister Scarlett.
One of Crowley's more challenging and less 'entertaining' pieces for sure - an absolute beast to record and produce. Chaos unfolded during the composition and edit, no surprise there. I was quite relieved when it was all over to be honest and very happy to let it out into the aether now.
I was inspired to use the track as a backing from The second Adoration from Liber Resh a couple of months ago in June 2020. Recorded in the first instance to help me learn the relevant section from 'The Book of the Law' for my own Ritual purposes, I thought it strong enough to put up here with my other work.
I hope you enjoy it.
Special thanks to Matej Ograjensek at the Video Library for the video footage.

I recorded the meditation to aid my personal daily practice during this working. It's best listened to with eyes closed in order to assist with visualisation. The 6:8 (or 4:3 if you prefer) timing lends this meditation ideal for the use of 4 Fold breath throughout.

You'll never have what you want to see
you'll never have your victory
if you're bound hand and foot
in the trappings of history
relying on habits formed through the years
you bore me to tears
On a force fed diet from cradle to grave
by the chains of tradition reduced to a slave
the lessons learned on your mother's knee
to bow and scrape and never be free
fall to the feet of the Priest or the Guru
believe in the good Lord or the Voodoo
blame all the others for your tribulations
but never suspect your sacred cows
Your sacred cows
Excuses, pardons, miracles, fables
candles and crosses and Holy Tables
take away your crutches
and what would we make of you
Muslim, Hindu, Christian, Jew
well it makes no odds to me
I'll bring my sword down on you
bring my sword down on you
and kill your sacred cows
We'll kill your sacred cows
We'll kill your sacred cows

The Emerald Tablet
(A translation from the Arabic by Dave Bessell)
True, without falsehood, certain, most certain.
What is above is like what is below,
and what is below is like that which is above.
To make the miracle of the one thing.
And as all things were made from contemplation of one, so all things were made from this one, by conjunction.
Its father is the Sun, its mother the Moon.
The wind has carried it in its body, and the earth has nourished it.
It is the source of all ‘works of wonder' in the world.
Its power is complete.
When cast to earth, it will separate earth from fire, the subtle from the gross.
It ascends from earth to heaven.
Again it descends to earth, and takes back the power of the above and the below.
Thus you will receive the glory of the distinctiveness of the world. All obscurity will flee from you.
This is the whole most strong strength of all strength, for it overcomes all subtle things, and penetrates all solid things.
Thus was the world created.
From this comes marvellous adaptions of which this is the procedure.
I am called Hermes Trismegistus and this is my last book, which is hidden.

Another song originally written and performed with my brother Jonathan for the Shadow Warrior project - back then it was performed with a bass guitar (albeit through a split rig with a pedal board full of effects) and blistering Taiko drums, this time it's been given the Brutal Wounds treatment - after all, any 3 chord rock song deserves a rock ensemble - provided with gusto by Andy Curry and Jim Johnston, with more cello from Rowan Jamal and backing vocals from Jo Clarkson.
The lyrics are inspired by literature relating to my own personal recovery from addiction and alcoholism, those in the know will spot the similarities and references.
THE AGE OF MIRACLES
If the age of miracles is still with us
let go of the thoughts you once had
the old ideas, the fear the mistrust
delusions that make you so sad
If the age of miracles is still with us
crawl from the wreckage at last
hope for better bright future
free from the chains of the past
If the age of miracles is still with us
the promises made can come true
a new life beyond anything you could dream
right here, right now, for you
If the age of miracles is still with us
lose suspicion cast out the doubt
now matter how far down the scale you have gone
you can change from the inside out
If the age of miracles is still with us
let go of control, give up the fight
admit that you’re beaten, find a new power
to lead you from darkness into the light
Is the age of miracles is still with us?
The age of miracles is still with us.
Originally written for and performed as part of the Shadow Warrior project with my brother Jonathan, this Brutal Wounds arrangement and recording gave the opportunity for Andy Curry (Drums), Jim Johnston (Guitar) and Rowan Jamal (Cello) to join me in expressing themselves superbly, creating a new version which was recorded straight to tape at New Cut Studios in Bristol in March 2020, then mastered by Shilltz in August that same year after a long hiatus caused by the global pandemic. I am immensely grateful to all of them for the respective parts played in making this highly charged piece.
The lyrics contain words from the Ritual of the Qabalistic Cross :
'Atah
Malkuth
Ve-Geburah,Ve-Gedulah
Le-Olahm, Amen'
The Cicero translation of this text reads:
'Thou art the Kingdom
and the Power
and the Glory
Forever unto the ages'
The instrumental version also features as the backing track for my reading of Crowley's Hymn to Pan which is on this channel. The blending of the two was not originally intended and the poem was recorded without reference to the track but it is quite remarkable how they sit together:

SKIN
Take a look at my skin
take a look at the state I'm in
every pore clogged up with sin
take a look at my skin
take a look at my heart
broken up right from the start
all the love has been torn apart
take a look at my heart
Every time I’m near you
every time I’m with you
every time I see you
I just want to be you
every time I hear you
every time I fear you
Every time I see you
If only I could be you
Take a look in my mind
never knew it could be so unkind
devastated by the things I find
take a look in my mind
take a look at my soul
its just a void, a dark black hole
spinning, helpless out of control
take a look at my soul
Every time I’m near you
every time I’m with you
every time I see you
I just want to be you
every time I hear you
every time I fear you
very time I see you
If only I could be you
Try to help me understand
I only want to be a better man
take me to the promised land
help me understand
don’t leave me hanging on the wire
feel such a fraud, a cheat and a liar
bleeding out with ugly desire
Don’t leave me hanging on the wire
Every time I’m near you
every time I’m with you
every time I see you
I just want to be you
every time I hear you
every time I feel you
every time I see you
If only I could be you
Take a look at my skin
Take a look at my heart
Take a look in my mind
Take a look at my soul
Talking to Angels was interrupted by the events of 2020 but happily survived to see the light of day at the end of the year. Plans to shoot videos for the tracks had to be shelved, but you never know what might happen in the future.

I was talking to an angel
I was bathing in her light
I could have sworn that every word that I said to her was true
but she knew that wasn’t right
I’d told her everything and nothing
all my tales from long ago
All my tragedies, all the hopes I’d had
every single bitter blow
I gave her every good reason
why I’d gone and killed my faith
and passed judgement on this world
in all my violence and hate
but she just smiled and looked in me
and whispered to my soul
she showed me how
my broken mind
was trying to control
she told me I could be the one
that I could know and love
she lifted me from far below
and held me up above
High up Above
High up Above
High up Above
High up Above
So I lay down with that angel
In the uncreated light
and died a thousand deaths of guilt and shame
In one eternal night
All my secrets laid before her
everything I’d tried to hide
every twisted story I had told
Every lie I’ve ever lied
Just when I thought that it was over
She made me open up some more
Until I gave her everything I had
bloody, bruised and raw
then she just smiled and looked in me
and whispered to my soul
she showed me how
my broken mind
was trying to control
she told me I could be the one
that even I could love
she lifted me from far below
and held me up above
High up Above
High up Above
High up Above
High up Above
lying with an Angel
bathing in her light
a thousand deaths of guilt and shame
in one eternal night
taken by my madness
to the gates of hell
now I’m giving everything I’ve got

In an interesting quirk of fate, the final file size of the Youtube master was precisely 666MB. As a student of Thelema I found this to be a significantly good thing.
it is my will to accomplish the Great Work
every man and every woman is a star
thou hast no right but to do thy will
do that, and no other shall say nay.
for pure will, unassuaged of purpose
delivered from the lust of result
is every way perfect.
Love is the law love under will.
Fall to.
Words: Aleister Crowley, Voice and music by Son of a Priest.
Composed and recorded at the beginning of a course of study in Thelema I undertook in 2020.

I composed this piece as a follow up invocation after attending 2 x Mass of Babalon (carried out using the working outlined in Rodney Orpheus' wonderful book "Grimoire of Aleister Crowley') in late 2019 and early 2020 and after a long preceding spell of working with the divine feminine which had quite stunning results with which I reckon even Jack Parsons would have been happy. This version includes the voice of a manifestation of the Scarlet Woman to my Beast. It's also been used as a background for a Mass itself by others as well as for other rituals. Please feel free to do the same.
If you want to have some fun with this, play the video full screen, listen with headphones and focus through narrowed eyes on the appearance of The Red Goddess while joining in with the chant.

This ten minute male voice version was made for my asana meditation practice. I also used this piece as a follow up invocation after attending 2 x Mass of Babalon in early 2020 which had quite stunning results with which even Jack Parsons would have been happy.
