Recognized as one of the very first extreme sports video games, 720° dropped players into "Skate City," a sprawling isometric park where skaters had to pull off tricks, earn points, and enter events before time ran out and the killer bees attacked ("SKATE OR DIE!").
The soundtrack was composed by Atari sound legend Hal Canon. To deliver an authentic street-skating audio experience, Atari equipped the cabinet with a high-power sound system featuring a dedicated boombox-style speaker setup. Powered by a Yamaha YM2151 FM synth chip paired with a Yamaha YM3012 DAC and digital speech hardware, 720° featured driving funk baselines, catchy brass hooks, and crisp digitized voice prompts that defined late-80s arcade culture.
