There was a boy, and there was a need for escape. Never living up to the standards that were set. No passion, no motivation. No plan, no dream. Always being left behind. Screams and schemes. Lust and lies. A never ending battle with The Good Lord, and the demons that drove him to the edge. Finding solace in music alone, he decided it was time to make a change. Wielding his instruments and donning a new name, the boy found his escape.
Operating in the current incarnation since 2013, Mark Alan Knapp Jr. is the completely self-sufficient, multi-instrumentalist known as 7 Minutes To Midnight. Able to play a plethora of instruments, not only does Mark compose all of the music and lyrics for 7 Minutes To Midnight, he also records, mixes, and masters everything in his studio, Teenage Suburbia Studios. Combining the elements of poppy and radio friendly vocal melodies and production techniques with over-the-top distortion, soulful bass lines, crisp and rapid drum beats; and lyrics of self-discovery, angst filled rebellion, and promises to never falter, 7 Minutes To Midnight pays homage to the alternative punk and emo sounds of the late 90’s through the mid 2000’s.
Between 2013-2015, 7 Minutes To Midnight released demos of original material online, a total of 32 original songs. Only the 20 best songs remain in 7 Minutes To Midnight’s catalog currently, and only nine of those are available for listening at this time. “The Teenage Suburbia EP”, 7 Minutes To Midnight’s first professional release, was released on July 16th, 2016. The best of the best, “The Teenage Suburbia EP” features the lead single “I Wanted To Be Like All Of The Cool Bands And Write A Song With An Abnormally Long Name, So Here It Is!”, as well as songs like “Holding A Gun To God’s Head” and “Heartbreak Anthem”.
Influenced by Green Day, blink-182, Sum 41, All Time Low, A Day To Remember, Jimmy Eat World, The Wonder Years, Marianas Trench, and many more, 7 Minutes To Midnight is slowly making a name in the music business of today. With numerous live performances throughout the Midwest, with and without a support band, Mark Knapp’s hyperactive and audience engaging stage performances are ones that will always be remembered. 7 Minutes To Midnight is coming out, and coming out swinging tonight.
