Gerhardt Konig, a Hawaii anesthesiologist, is on trial for the attempted murder of his wife after a birthday trip hike turned violent on a remote Hawaiian cliffside trail. Prosecutors allege Konig planned to kill her following the discovery of an “emotional affair,” attempting to push her off a cliff, use a syringe, and ultimately striking her with a rock.
Konig claims it was self-defense, saying his wife attacked him first.
