Construction took 3,600 hours over 11 months. 85% of them come from the recovery and reuse of cardboard packaging, which is a nod to the "make and mend" spirit of the war years. Why cardboard? 80th Anniversary Memorial Service in Remembrance of the crew of B17 Mi Amigo Gregos Jez 2024-02-28 | On 22 February 1944, the USAAF B-17 Flying Fortress aircraft Mi Amigo, from the 364th Bomber Squadron, based at Chelveston, Northamptonshire, was returning from a bombing mission over Aalborg, Denmark, during which it was heavily damaged by enemy fighter aircraft. Around 5 pm, engines faltered, it emerged out of low clouds and crashed in the park. The entire crew (pilot 1st Lt. John Kriegshauser, copilot 2nd Lt. Lyle Curtis, navigator 2nd Lt. John Humphrey, bombardier 2nd Lt. Melchor Hernandez, flight engineer/top turret gunner S/Sgt. Harry Estabrooks, radio operator S/Sgt. Bob Mayfield, ball turret gunner Sgt. Charles Tuttle, waist gunners T/Sgt. Malcolm Williams and Sgt. Vito Ambrosio, and tail gunner Sgt. AC cars 1952 , before Cobra Gregos Jez 2022-04-25 | This is something special. I met this car during the last holiday while I was out of town. And this is a truly unique model. It seems to me that this is one of the first models of the AC factory that later produced the famous Cobras in the early 1960s. First, they produced normal passenger cars like the one shown in the picture with an aluminium body. This model comes from 1952. And it even looks good. The owner told me it was his grandfather's inheritance. It was broken and had been in the garage since his grandfather's death, and everyone forgot about it, there were no people eager to repair it. It was only when Covid Lokdawn, his grandson who is in the picture (65 years old) came, that he decided to do something with it. And he repaired it and the car was allowed to run. But it still takes a lot of time and money for the vehicle to return to its former glory. The great-grandson at the departure said that the car will stay in the family and it should be so.

The Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS) was formed in January 1938 and fire stations were set up in schools, garages and factories.A recruitment drive was launched, with over 28,000 firefighters needed to support the Brigade's 2,500 officers and firefighters. However, as most young men had joined the army, the AFS welcomed those too old or too young to go to war. It also marked the first time women joined the Brigade.
