Hello friends, thanks for visiting my channel today. I hope my layout inspires you!
In this video, I will create a pocket page layout featuring two 6x4 pocket cards that were designed, then drawn + cut with my Explore 3. I used white textured cardstock as the base layer in both pocket cards, then layered patterned papers and some torn cardstock sandwiched in between to create the backdrop for the Cricut created (read: hybrid) parts.
Using the draw + cut function, I created two tags with textured white cardstock. On the first pocket card, the main part of the title was attached (this way, it draws, then cuts, all in one pass). The rest of the title was drawn, as well, but attached to offset. Offset is fancy for adding a border, or bubble around letters/images. I usually alternate between 0.05 inch and 0.1 inch thicknesses, depending on how much of a border I want around my image. 0.25 inches is often too much, in my opinion. Both those offsets are attached to the card with 3D foam squares and a little dab of glue.
The second pocket card was built the same way at the first, but the tag is flipped. I flipped it just to add a bit of visual interest. This pocket card was reserved for the journaling, which was drawn with a Navy Blue pen. It was created using the same process as the main part of the title on the other pocket card.
Both pocket cards are embellished with the same leaf/floral clusters- again, just flipped. The bottom pocket card is the home of an embellishment cluster made up of tropical images- a sand dollar, sea shell and flowers; the top card has a couple hearts scattered around the volcano, acting as lava “splatter”.
The volcano, along with the word LAVA, was coloured in with alcohol markers. It symbolizes this thing my BFF and I say to each other: I lava you. Lava replaces love, in this scenario. It came to be after we took our kids to the theatre to watch Moana. We both love the volcano skit (+ the song that tells a short story) before the movie starts. It’s been our thing ever since. It seemed fitting to document now, considering February is dedicated to love. 😆
