In case any of you don't know what kind of magnets these are, they are called rare earth magnets and are extremely powerful. This magnet can probably pick up easily 25 to 35 pounds and do all sorts of interesting things. One of these things is called the Lenz effect or Lenz's Law where when a high-powered magnet is in contact with or specifically is surrounded by either aluminum, copper or silver it acts extremely strange. Especially because a magnet is not attracted to any of those metals. So when you drop a magnet through the pipe it slows down so much that it actually looks fake or like it's been doctored up with a special effect. Anyway, here's a video of me dropping that super high power magnet through a couple of aluminum pipes. Whoops, just had a nerdgasm.Pilot Whales in the Atlantic between Bimini and MiamiSteve Brandes2014-05-06 | **MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE VIEWING THIS IN AT LEAST 720P!**
First of all, I would like to apologize about the squeaking noises I was making. I was excited! Although in my defense, after I began making the noises the whales stopped what they were doing and kinda just hung around on the surface. Also, make sure to listen to all of them breathing on the surface when we get close. That's not me, it's the whales! That being said, on with the description!
When I saw the fins of these whales, I thought they were Orcas at first because the darkness of the fins and the angle of the light made me think that, then when I noticed that the color was a dark gray and not black, I thought they were sperm whales as I have seen in the past traveling from the Bahamas to the USA. But then after seeing the video and remembering that sperm whales barely have a dorsal fin, I realized they were actually Pilot Whales! They are some of the cutest whales out there and I was so happy to have been able to witness them from this close. Had my diving gear been at the ready, this would have been an underwater video! There's always next time.
