RapidChange ATC Swing Turret Proof of Concept.
I sped the video up 2 times
This is a custom fit for the Onefinity Machines but I believe could be adapted to other machines like the Avid. I aquired a WoodWorker Pro to see what I could do with a tool changer having minimal work area interference. It looks like I succeeded!
The Original linear ATC Magazine works well with the Buildbotics controller on the Onefinity Pro sewries but the Turret is a bit too much for it.
I wired up a Masso G3. It's not a G3 Touch but it's the same controller.
This porototype has a 3D printed hub for the A axis spinning the turret. The concentricity is out on this one by 0.6mm so it does fail to pick up a tool once. The IR sensor for tool recognition catches the error and the program pauses for me to correct it and hit cycle start.
I am running through a program that loads every tool statrting with every other toolat least once. 63 tool changes in all.
It needs a proper hub for the turret, metal gears for the swing and finish the asthetics.
It uses a closed loop stepper for the A axis and and an optical home switch.
The plates are Paper Phenolic XX which I prefer to aluminum for a lot of reasons.
The Swing plate mounts sandwiched between the table and the machine frame and there are 3 other spacers for the other 3 posts.
