Ogden City Public Services is the largest department in Ogden, Utah, one of the oldest incorporated cities in the western United States. The department maintains 320 lane miles of road and 400 miles of sewer and stormwater pipe.
Ogden City is undertaking a project approaching $100 million to replace a 36-inch water transmission line that is close to a century old. The department designs replacement infrastructure to last hundreds of years rather than fifty.
Ogden City Public Services collects 22,000 cans of garbage and 14,000 cans of recycling every week. Residents report issues through the GOGov app and receive a response from crews.
The Ogden River Restoration Project turned the river corridor into a gathering place connecting neighborhoods across the city. Community volunteers have since taken on stewardship of the restored corridor.
The department also delivers Ogden's Christmas Village, which uses 62 cottages and close to a million lights, and supports the city's rodeo. Planning for each begins as soon as the previous one ends.
