The 6040 auger trough, where the quenching process takes place, is entirely sealed, assisting with under-air efficiency. Once the organic carbon drops through the grates, it is fully quenched by the water bath. The augers move the char through the trough, out the rear of the carbonizing chamber, and onto the discharge conveyor.
