Fire Emblem is a series in a perpetual state of evolution. Every game tries something novel, whether it pans out as intended or ends up being weird and bad is another story. But over its decades-long life, many many mechanics have quietly vanished from the one title they were in, or simply became out-dated or redundant as the series modernized itself over time, leaving no room for that mechanic anymore. Today we look at 6 features in Fire Emblem that have either been abandoned with nothing to replace them or reworked so thoroughly that they're practically unrecognisable. Some of these ideas still have grounds for return, even in their base form, but for one reason or another, Intelligent Systems left them behind.
