I share deep gratitude with my Dear Friend and Colleague Awanookwe Bratvold for bringing me to her community in Bemidji.
Afterwards Robin led a panel with six Indigenous sustainability studies students and graduates: Colin Eagle, David Villier, Michelle Rose Anderson, Pete White, Jerome Johnson and Nicole Roberts! Unfortunately the audio was not clear enough for us to publish.
A special thanks to the Indigenous Sustainability Studies degree program, Niizhoo-gwayakochigewin program, Sustainability Office, Center for Sustainability Studies, DEI Office, Campus Activities Board, the Students for the Environment club, the People of the Environment program, and the Council of Indian Students for sponsoring the evening.
We share gratitude for spiritual advisor, Ziibiins Alexandra Johnson, Erika Bailey-Johnson from the BSU Sustainability Office and everyone who cooked, cleaned, spread the word, tabled, and helped in any way they could!
Thank you to NewEra4k for filming and video editing this presentation.

And I've biked across the United States three times with all of my gear on my bicycle.
Right now I own about 600 possessions which comfortably fit into a shelter that I temporarily call home.
I've been simplifying and downsizing my life for over a decade and lived in multiple tiny houses and structures.
In this video I share what I would own if I designed my possessions to fit into just a backpack and onto my bicycle with a bicycle rack and bicycle bags.
The purpose of these ~111 possessions is to meet my basic needs to live simply and sustainably, deeply connected to Earth and our communities.

@WildAbundance is a unique skills education center nestled in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina, just outside Asheville. In-person workshops offer hands-on experience with excellent teachers -- great training for those into DIY projects. Topics include basic and advanced carpentry, tiny house construction, timber framing, gardening, permaculture, foraging, wildcrafting, rewilding, and herbal medicine-making to help you live more sustainably. If you seek a more fulfilling lifestyle and want to experience the empowerment that comes from learning the skills to build your dreams, Wild Abundance is an amazing resource. Some classes are just for women, and this school attracts interesting, diverse, and positive people from all over.
The founder, Natalie Bogwalker, is a Dear Friend and colleague and she has created an environment with deep integrity. Of all the places I have visited, Wild Abundance shines out as a place where I recommend to learn the skills to live sustainably and reconnect with Earth.

Yet, chopping down trees, guzzling fossil fuels, consuming vast quantities of water and then bleaching the paper we create from trees is normal, acceptable and even sophisticated. All the while using plants as toilet paper as well, but separated from reality by an industry… Disconnected from the source.
So sure, I'm crazy. And I will always choose to be the "crazy" one in this disconnected society.
Brut visited me on my compost toilet in Gainesville, Florida to share this message.
Love,
Robin

These shorts were my last piece of plastic clothing and I will now own natural fiber clothing for the rest of my life.
This summer I will transition to 100% regenerative fiber and fabric and make my clothes by hand and simple sewing machine.
Thank you to my Dear Friend Sun for providing me with a pair of her linen shorts to help me break free and reconnect with Earth!

As I paddled in the last mile, I realized what I seek so deeply, so passionately, sometimes so desperately is aliveness.
I want to feel alive!
I want to be connected to life!
I want to be connected to what is alive in me and everything around me!
And through being vigorously alive and connected, I want to wake society up from our current path of destruction.
The way we live today is destroying Earth as we know it…. Taking the lives of millions of our plant and animal relatives… Taking the life right out of the lungs and veins of our Mother Earth…
I come out here to reconnect. To reconnect with Earth. To reconnect with myself. To connect so deeply that I can bring this connection back to humanity and show that another way is possible.
I felt the life out here.
The sun beat down upon me.
The tides exhausted me at times.
The five days straight of strong wind challenged me to find peace amongst the aliveness of the ocean.
The biting insects drove me into my little tented refuge, and they got me in there too.
And the three days of unexpected diarrhea and the difficulty to stay hydrated…
I was a guest in these lands and I accepted each of these challenges as a gift.
No doubt these gifts reconnected me with Earth and with myself.
Now I bring this connection back to you.
To reconnect with what is truly alive in you…
To reconnect with our plant and animal relatives…
To reconnect with our community, our global humanity…
To remember that we are all a part of all life on Earth. Not separate. Not better. Just part of it all.
Love,
Robin

It’s the dream of millions. To “live off the land” and never have to take a trip to the grocery store. And through the pandemic more and more Americans have experienced the instability of our food system and desire to break free.
But is it possible to break free? I am here to show that it is.

In this video Robin introduces you to approximately 10 common edible and medicinal plants and shares tips on how to get started foraging and overcome the anxiety and fear, foraging safety, ethical foraging and how to become a plant wizard!
For one month Robin Greenfield foraged 100% of his food, over 100 different foods from the land. At the same time he traveled from city to city, leading foraging walks connecting helping to reconnect his Dear Friend with Earth. We recorded this plant walk at the US Capitol for YOU!

Over the last month I have foraged nearly 100 different foods from the land!
One of my current staples is autumn berries (also called autumn olive).
This is an “invasive plant” full of nutrients, including omega 3 in the seeds.
I eat the seeds so this plant can’t spread, turning the problem into a solution!
We CAN forage in harmony with the land, don’t let anyone convince you otherwise.

Find a spring near you: findaspring.com
Hello Dear Friends!
I see a lot of comments with either concern for me or assuming that I lack knowledge on harvesting wild water.
So to shed some light for you…
For some of you, this may be your first time hearing the term “wild water” I first heard it from Natalie Bogwalker, the founder of Wild Abundance in North Carolina. I was very drawn to it.
However, I have been drinking wild water since I was born 36 years ago.
I grew up with an incredible artesian well on the shores of Lake Superior, where thousands of us harvest our pure water as it gushes out from deep in the earth ready to drink.
I know our society has been disconnected from our sources of life including our food and water, so it is understandable that so many would assume my practice is dangerous. Very few of us really even know where our water comes from or the processes it takes to clean it before it comes out of our tap or after it goes down our drain.
So I will share some...
These wild waters I am drinking from in this video are all from springs.
Springs are sources of water that have bubbled up through the earth, after having been fully purified by Earth as has been done for millions of years. There are no viruses, parasites (including giardia), bacteria, liver flukes or anything of that sort in a quality spring or well. Some springs can be harmed by humanities ways and so some diligence is needed, which diligence I have.
I am drinking from quality springs and wells at the source or within sight of the source where I can be certain the water is still pure. The clip of me drinking straight from the creek, is just 15 feet from the source, still pure and safe.
I know how to source quality water and am connected to Earth and not careless. I come from Lake Superior, where pure water flows through my veins.
When water needs to be purified, I purify it. When it is already pure, I’m going to drink it straight from Earth. I have purified my water from hundreds of bodies of water around what we call the United States and around the world from clear cold rivers to mucky swamps to ponds and more... I carry a portable filter with me and at home I have a more substantial filter called a Berkey filter.
Contrary to many people’s belief, there is still a lot of pure water in the world and there is still clean rainwater to be drunk as well.
I could share a lot more but I think I’ve stated enough clearly for those who would like to understand my actions.
Love,
Robin
PS. As far as the sign at this spring. That sign was there purely for liability in a State Park. It is indeed safe, pure spring water.

It’s the dream of millions. To “live off the land” and never have to take a trip to the grocery store. And through the pandemic more and more Americans have experienced the instability of our food system and desire to break free.
But is it possible to break free? I am here to show that it is.
