Currently tracking a piece that is sort of a blend of alt rock and metal, and one of the riffs ended up being quite inspired by Megadeth's Cryptic Writings album (that I dig a lot).

About the track:
Deadly Obsession is a concept track. The theme of it is something that started out as a positive, good idea, but went really wrong somewhere along the way, became a dangerous obsession and ended very badly.
I'm very excited to have Ryan Van Poederooyen program the drums on this one too. I'm a huge fan of his work for Imonolith and the Devin Townsend Band, and hearing his interpretation for something I made is just something else.
The video was professionally filmed by MenahemD. He is an awesome creative mind and his vision and ideas were able to make the video aspect of this track better than I could have thought.

I live in Haifa, Israel. Without getting into the politics - war is a thing that happens here, and so the army and authorities did a drill earlier today with an air raid siren, the kind of one you would hear in the case of a real attack too. So I did the only reasonable thing you can do - use the opportunity to cover the War Pigs intro on bass.
I was pretty anxious before this recording since you don't have too much opportunity for retakes, but I think it came out OK.
Hope you enjoy this. Peace and love, hope air raid sirens remain only a drill.

About the track:
The theme of Drive is motivational. The idea was to write the kind of music that would make you want to get up, go out there, and get things done
Usually my tracks are solo releases in every sense of that term (with me doing the writing, production, drum programming, and the video), but that is not the case here.
The drums were programmed by Ryan Van Poederooyen (drummer of Imonolith, ex-long time drummer of Devin Townsend). Ryan is one of my absolute favorite drummers and his work here just blew me away. If you're familiar with his drumming style you'll definitely recognize it here, and for me it's a huge honor to hear his interpretation and drumming on something I wrote.
And the video was professionally filmed by MenahemD, with Almog Davidov joining us for some shots of skateboarding.

Original song by Anti-Nowhere League
Based on Metallica's live performance of the song in Cunning Stunts DVD
Orchestra footage taken from S&M (1999)
Orchestration by Valentin The Mad
Inspired by Metallica's shows with the San Francisco Orchestra in S&M 1 and 2.

Other projects of mine include a death metal song with wild boars (recorded in my city) doing the vocals:
youtube.com/watch?v=B-C8jdXIG5A
And a solo project of instrumental guitar-centered music (ranging from soft rock to heavy-thrash metal). Metallica is the reason I started playing music in the first place, and they're a major influence for my writing as well:
youtube.com/playlist?list=PLgrDAPIq_KbtKRCBYON1Tw541_5Kd5Ukl
***
How it came to be:
In anticipation of S&M 2 I came across the documentary of the first show on Youtube. At one point, Michael Kamen (the conductor of the symphony) joked with the members of Metallica about the possibility of playing So What in S&M.
I thought that could be really cool, and some time later I decided to just do it myself.
A big plus while making it was the fact that the Cunning Stunts DVD comes with a 5.1 channel surround sound option. There's a channel that includes only the vocals, drums and bass, and 2 channels that mainly include the guitars. That helped a lot with the mix.

How it came to be:
I live in Haifa, Israel. As far as I remember wild hogs were always present in the city, but in recent years there has been a massive increase in their population. In some neighborhoods seeing them became a daily occurrence.
One day I encountered a family of hogs in the middle of the day on a busy street. I took out my phone and recorded a short video (the one you see at the start). Later that day I was listening to a brutal death metal album, and at the same time I had the hog video playing. There was a very notable similarity between the deep vocals in that album and the voice of the hog in the video, which led to this idea.
I borrowed my friend's B tuned guitar and in the following weeks I was walking around town late evenings and nights with my camera and a handheld recorder, sampling and filming the local pigs. So yes, all the vocals you hear in the song are autotuned street hogs from my city.

About the track:
This release is a remake of a demo I made back in 2014. The idea was to revisit the track, re-record everything from scratch, flesh the ideas out, but keep the spirit and the vibe of the original. And now, after much work of recording, mixing and experimenting, I'm really happy to finally have it out.
Musically, as the shirt suggests, Megadeth was the biggest influence.
The demo is most commonly known for being used in the intro of the review and discussion videos on my gaming channel "Random Madness", where it was heard over 4 million times in the various videos.
As for the video - I was in the final stages of working on the track when the whole crisis started breaking out. When the time came to film, my country was in the middle of the lockdown with strict movement restrictions, so I decided to film the video on an improvised set on my roof.

I was working on a machinima video for my gaming channel, with Open Season being the theme track for it, and as I was nearing the end I was about 20 seconds short of music. So I decided to experiment and see what I can do, one thing led to another and I wrote this heavier ending.
After the machinima came out I decided to take the time, finalize, re-record the riffs and release this version of the track as well. Hope you'll enjoy it!

On the creation of the track:
I began working on it in June of 2017. I was experimenting with ideas, riffs, figuring out the arrangements. At one point I hit a writing block and went back to working on a different track (called Losing the Sense of Time, already released).
A few weeks later came that Thursday when I heard the news of Chester's passing. It was a massive shock and it hit me hard. It felt a lot like losing someone I've known for years, and in a way it was that. Linkin Park is the band that reignited my love for rock music back in 2003, I've been listening to them non stop back then and the early albums have remained a significant part of my life's soundtrack throughout the years.
Following the news of his passing and the massive amounts of Linkin Park I was listening to in those days I picked up my bass, went back to writing and the missing pieces of the track were filled. The music was emotional from the very start, but after that, it took an entirely different meaning.

On the creation of the track:
The initial idea was born in a jam with a friend of mine, Maor David. He came up with the first rhythm riff, which is the foundation of the track.
After writing the intro solo later that night, I decided there's no way I'm letting it be another unfinished project, and I continued to work on it on and off throughout 2013, releasing a demo in early 2014.
The idea of re-recording it now was to reexamine everything - the riffs, the bass parts, the solo rhythms, and deliver a clearer, fleshed out version of the track.

Concept and inspirations:
In 2013 I made a backing track from some of the earliest ideas I ever wrote. A few months later, jamming on that backing track became a part of my warm up routine and what ended up happening quite often, is that I was jamming and experimenting with ideas for hours on end, forgetting whatever I was supposed to work on that day.
That feeling of losing the sense of time in joy became the theme of the track

Concept and inspirations:
The track is about the choice of dedicating yourself to creating art. You're putting everything on the line, the risk is huge and there are much safer, more secure paths but you got that burning drive and passion you can't ignore.
It comes with quite an emotional trip. Insane motivation, heavy doubts, and sometimes just pure emptiness.
Main musical inspirations: Metallica, Dream Theater (their self titled album was a pretty heavy inspiration for the first half of the track) and Pink Floyd

Listen to Sandstorm:

When I was working on Sandstorm there was a point where it was way too short (around 2:30 mins) and felt incomplete, so I was looking to solve that.
I thought about making a "proggy half" to it, which ended up being the first few riffs of When The Dust Settles. Eventually the solo section of Sandstorm got longer and I wrote an outro so I decided to split the two and keep developing the ideas to make it a track on its own.
By September 2014 I had most of the track was written down and I started completing it. The work on the solos took much longer than I expect it, but I think it was worth it.

Hypnosis is an Indie\Prog Rock track from my solo project. It will probably be the finishing track of the upcoming solo album (I have more writing to do, so everything is still open!). And like all of my other solo tracks this one was written and recorded entirely by me. See if you can spot Kelly (my cat) on this one :D

Never Peace Of Mind is a prog rock instrumental with metal, alternative and hard rock influences written and recorded entirely by me. This video features the glorious return of "Cat Cam" first presented in my video for "Sandstorm".
One important life lesson learned during the making - when a cat occupies a box it becomes their independent territory. Learn from my mistake, and dont invade it ;)
The title is about me and peace of mind - a something that I dont get to feel much. I constantly feel the need to go forward, write the next piece, do the next show, make the next step towards the blurry destination I call "making it in music". And the only relief I get from this feeling is when Im actually taking that next step.
Even when I relax, I always feel this turbulence inside me, and this feeling was the inspiration to the title and some parts of the music.
And now that Im done with the writing, the recording and the video editing, Im thinking - whats next?
Enjoy the video and share it with your friends if you dig the music!
About the writing of Never Peace Of Mind:
Its a piece I started working on shortly after finising my version to Lily Was Here. I came up with a few ideas, intending to do an alt-ambient rock piece (- to explore some unfamiliar territory), but ended up doing something entirely different once I came up with the main theme.
The piece went through a crazy amount of changes from the initial idea to what you are hearing right now - from changing the time signature (from 4\4 to 3\4) to significant structure changes mid-recording and much more. But eventually Im happy with all of them, those changes are a really fun part of the writing process.

This is my all-guitar version of Lily Was Here by David A. Stewart and Candy Dulfer. I remember this piece being played in my home since I remember myself, so it was just a matter of time until I made my own version of it.
About my version of the piece:
The idea to make my version of Lily Was Here came to me an year ago (Feb 2013), I thought it has great potential so I started thinking of my vision , how I see my remake and playing around with ideas. I was experimenting on and off for about 10 months. By the time "Sandstorm" came out (early Jan 2014) I already had all of my ideas written down and all that was left is to practice the guitar solo to death, which I was doing for a month or so.
My goal with the guitar rewrite was to make my version of the piece and not just another cover. To do it my way but still to stick to the amazing atmosphere of the original.
As for the solos - I wanted to make 2 guitar solos, a distorted one that will be pretty shreddy, and generally the kind of solo you could expect from me. And a clean one which would be a complete contrast to the distorted one. Which is kind of what I did.

This is a guitar solo I wrote for Dont Speak by No Doubt. Since there was no backing track for this song I didnt rewrite the acoustic solo the original song has, and instead solo`ed on the final chorus to the end.
I dedicate this solo to Veronica, she is a good friend of mine, loves my music and is very supporting of my goals as a musician (you guys have no idea how important such support is) . So when I thought what should I do for her birthday, the answer was pretty obvious :D
Enjoy the solo and let me know what you think!
If you dig the concept and want to see more - I have a lot of those :D

This is my take at Billie Jean by Michael Jackson. I played the rhythms with a bit of overdrive and added my own solo.
You will notice that the solo section is significantly louder than the rhythms. Unfortunately this is the only way the solo could be heard properly since this song doesnt has a guitar backing track with vocals.
Guitar solo is at 03:30

This is a new guitar solo I wrote for MJ`s Billie Jean. I was intending to do a cover of the song and improvising on the solo.
Yeah. Right. That aint happening.
I ended up writing a solo, some of the scale runs are pretty improvised though.

Here is a part that never was in Electric Funeral - right when the song ends and the riff fades out me and my friend Menahem decided to jam a bit, extending the drums and recording the bass and guitar parts.
Its a really fun part to jam on and having no ideas pre-prepared we came up with our soloing on the spot, and it sounds pretty cool.
We are planning on posting a full cover that will be posted.. Someday..

Wrote this solo kind of spontaneously, just picked up guitar at midnight and after jamming for a while I decided to see if I can write a solo for Smell Like Teen Spirit, which I did. Its fast paced and pretty metal and nothing like the original solo Nirvana had.
And you can see Kelly (my cat) just chilling here.

There are thousands of backing tracks on Youtube, some of them are really awesome, but there is this one backing track that inspired me so much I just wrote lead guitar parts all over it.
That backing track is chussssss`s "Arabic guitar backing track C Phrygian Dominant" and when I discovered it I jammed on it in non stop for two friggin hours.
This isnt exactly one of my original and it isnt a backing track jam either. All of my parts here were written.
