Legendary Tones Mr.Scary mod in MArshall DSL (iPhone Recording) Lasse Lammert 2024-02-10 | this thing is ridiculous....I've always loved the sound of the old Marshall JCM2000 DSL 100.Awesome Marshall tone, tons of gain, just fucking fantastic.BUT...... this deep switch was absolutely useless, with it in the OUT position, the sound is paper thin and with it IN it's really boomy and unusable for fast thrashy mutes.the Legendary Tones Mr.Scary mod fixed all that in the most pleasing way.so I just reduced the gain on the amp (lead1 instead of lead 2), and made up for the loss of distortion and saturation with the Mr.Scary a bit later in the chain.this plug'n'play mod also has a low switch, which I had disengaged here (and the deep switch on the amp IN).what I got was all the sound and tone I love from this amp, but it cleared up the low end significantly without making it sound thin.Now it does fast thrash palm mutes like a champ (this is straight in, no boost).please excuse the horrible playing, this is quite literally the first time in 3 years that I touched a guitar, but I just wanted to show you why I'm so stoked on this.This isn't a proper recording of course, it's just my iPhone sitting on the table resting against a big af swimbait, exactly like the studio pros are doing it...🙄but either way, ignore the playing and iPhone mic quality, you'll still hear how fucking tight this awesome underrated amp has become.

Stock 1975 Marshall Super Lead MKII Doing Metal?! Lasse Lammert 2020-10-02 | yes, indeed!this is my stock 1975 Marshall Super Lead MKII (well, stock except for the filter caps, some pots, jacks and head shell, which had to be replaced due to age).Bossted with the Boss SD-1W set to "stock" mode, so no extra gain or anything over the regular old sd-1.sm57 and a bit of r121 on a Mesa cab, no post processing.Shows that with a tiny bit of boost you can get those old amps into high gain territory without a problem. The character of the sound is still old school Marshall, but isnt it great to have all those flavours of distortion in modern high gain music as well?
Soldano Hot Mod vs. Legendary Tones V2 in a Marshall JMP 2203 Lasse Lammert 2020-09-21 | I've always been a massive fan of the original Soldano Hot Mod (this neat little device that turns your Marshall into a fire breathing monster without having to physically mod your valuable amp), I was lucky enough to hunt down a couple of them while they were still available on the used marked, but I was always a bit reluctant to use them much because finding replacement tubes at a reasonable price became more and more difficult.So I was really stoked when I found out about the Legendary Tones HotMod V2, which takes the same principal but used readily available 12ax7 instead...Took me about 2 minutes to buy one of them and about 2 weeks for it to arrive.And flip me, is that thing sick!Anyway, here's a direct comparison between the two.No post processing on the guitars, cab was a Mesa Recto 4x12, miked with an sm57 and an R121.

Airis Effects Nemesis Preamp Test (Direct Tone) Lasse Lammert 2020-09-10 | Here's a clip of the magnificent Airis Nemesis Preamp.this was recorded without a boost or amp, just straight into the Nemesis, recorded through the Mooer Radar IR loader.No tubes were harmed during the making of this clip!but honestly, if you're looking for a sick travel rig and don't need to cover a plethora of musical styles and switching, the Nemesis might be for you!Here I just used an IR inside the Mooer Radar, but you could as well just put the output of the Nemesis into the FX return of whatever amp you have on stage (or in your rehearsal room or studio), and use that amp's power amp.The Nemesis is a sick standalone high gain guitar preamp.The tone/EQ knobs actually deserve that name and offer a wide range of very useful distortion sounds.

Lasse Lammert 2020-03-31 | What can I say, I just absolutely love this amp to bits...The Kuro P.h.A. is a sick pedal to shape the tone slightly, get it a bit more or less tight, boost some mids, cut some lows or highs, add some "push" etc, all without changing the original tone of the amp (unless desired).Here I just used it to slightly tighten up the low end on fast mutes by boosting the mids slightly, which resulted in the same great Soldano sound but with slightly faster tracking low end...loving this combination

Diezel Comparison (Herbert, VH4, Einstein) and KHE Amp Switcher Demo Lasse Lammert 2019-08-20 | The awesome KHE Amp And Cabinet Selector is just one of the most amazing tools you can have in the studio, so I thought I'd quickly show you what it does.In order to do that I needed several amps to switch between, so I figured it'd be a good situation to switch back and forth between my 3 Diezel heads.All heads go into the same cab and have the EQ knobs set to approximately noon with just small adjustments (dipping the mids on the vh4 and Einstein slightly to make them more comparable to the Herbert with the mid cut engaged (set to 9:00 o'clock).Usually I'd use a boost for this type of riffing, in this case there's no boost though, just the guita (DI) straight into the amps.Edit: the "cab" I ended up using for this test was actually not a real cab at all but one of my Mesa Its loaded into the St.Rock react:IR if you wanna know more about the amp and cab switchers, you can check them out here:khe-audioelectronics.comThanks

EMG JH Set vs. S. Duncan Antiquity JB (High Gain Clip) Lasse Lammert 2018-04-26 | I used the exact same settings on the amp but raised the gain of the JB by about 5dB to match its level to the output of the EMG in order to get the same amount of distortion from the amp for a fair comparison.The JB has loads more low end below 200Hz and the Hetfield has a ton more high end above 3kHz. They actually sound quite different and it really comes down to personal taste.I like how fast tracking and tight the low end is on the EMG, but the JB definitely has a growl that I like.Amp was an EVH 5150III without no boost and no post processing.btw, I gotta say I definitely prefer the antiquity to the regular JB by far.

(Part 2, this one is more subtle) Lasse Lammert 2018-03-15 | So what you keep reading online are the same ill-informed statements like "Active pickups mask the natural sound of the guitar and make every guitar sound the same"...load of bollocks!I was challenged to compare a Strat with a Les Paul, both with EMGs because people claim that they would still sound the same (again, bollocks)...but I'd even go a step further than that...I took ALL the construction elements like bridge, neck construction, type of wood, scale length (that one's a biggie) out of the equation and am now comparing to extremely similar guitars..both are constructed in exactly the same way, same types of wood for every part of the guitar, same hardware, down to the same type of laquer.the only difference is that one guitar has a slightly thinner body and is a bit lighter in weight...that's it.acoustically the latter one has a bit less round bottom end but a bit more "snap" and output.And although the body has the smallest influence on the overall sound (compared to scale length, pickup position, neck etc) it's still a difference that translates even through a high gain amp...granted, the difference in this comparison is subtle (you might have to jump back and forth to the same sections in the riff to really hear it), but it's as subtle or big as it would be with any two guitars with the same type of pickup (passive or active)...so do active pickups make every guitar sound the same regardless of quality and type of wood?
