The father isn't around here, the monster is Lillian and Josh, both were abused by Adam. Lillian had absent of voice in her house, she knew the abuse to Josh, but she can't do anything. In some way Alex created this monster, bc he can't protect his mother and his brother. Once he discovered the abuse, this was too late. The spider is a predator, but in this case, both were upscale by Adam, the boogeyman. Uttu the sumerian goddess took the shape of spider as a way to escape the abuse of her father Enki. Some myths also said that spiders has the ability to create their own worlds. Dreamcatchers are a symbol of a spider web.Adam is also tied in a sort of web hanging, another symbol that the spider got the revanche. The Shining is a big reference of the game, that's explained the name of the prison, Overlook, like the hotel of the movie and the novel. Best Ending / Gather Up Ending - Star Ocean The Second Story R [tutorial in description] RuminInLove 2023-11-09 | Gather Up, technically the best ending. I just made every character write a book for every other character and I managed to get this ending that way.So, a quick rundown would be...-Go to Publication (pause, go to IC/Specialty, scroll over to Super Specialty. Publication should be there. If not, then upgrade writing and machinery on some characters).-Make each character make their Lv 10 book. You don't need to make 7 for every character, just make ones for characters who have low affection for each other.-Read them the books. For example, if Chisato has low affection for Noel, then give Chisato Noel's book via the menu. This will make her like Noel.-When everyone has over three hearts of affection for each other, you're set. You can check their hearts in the status menu.It'll play after the credits. You can get this ending after you've already beaten the game, so don't worry if you don't have enough SP to spend to get Publication. Sorry for English voices.

All thanks to Death Palm. And ppl be saying Double Slash is the best skill, pffft.Pros:-Roles system is great.-Combat is as good as ever, as per tri-Ace tradition. It's SO3's combat without any restrictions!-A pretty good cast all things considered. Emmerson and Fidel are stand-outs to me. Miki has the most expressive voice acting of any woman lead yet. The voice acting has the most personality yet with every character having different fluctuations and cadence in their delivery, giving everyone a unique vibe. I also like how everyone's tone changes when talking to Relia during PA's, it gives the voice acting a slight touch of realism. I also got a huge kick out of that one incredibly gruff over the top voice actor who kept voicing different characters.-You finally keep your bonus after reloading a save (thank God).-The game is overall faster than the previous installments. Chests no longer stop you in your tracks to play an animation and getting in and out of battles is snappier. Leveling up and stat growth is also faster than ever.-Nice visuals, I recall a waterfall that looked particularly impressive.-Having Item Creation take place in the menu is nice and convenient.-The best battle theme yet. The soundtrack all around is good. Some might say the reuse of SO4 and SO3 music is lazy, but I found it nostalgic and charming. The SO3 music was particularly thematic and played when appropriate.-I actually like the story. I like the theories it entails, with all the Star Ocean 3 references. So Fidel had Ethereal Blast before Fayt, and it was sorta implied in SO3 that Fayt got Ethereal Blast from the deletion gene (wasn't it?). And with Relia having powers that are reminiscent of Fayt's... Could it be implied that the symbological genetics scientists in SO3 got the information to create the deletion gene by studying the events of this game...? I like to imagine one of the main characters (maybe Fidel or Emmerson... or an older Relia) wrote a book about the adventure they went on, and one of the scientists in SO3 read the book and thought Relia's powers were the key to saving the universe... So they artificially remade her powers in a lab, modified it, and gave it to Fayt, Maria, and Sophia. But that's just a theory.Cons:-Needless, inconvenient restrictions on when you can save.-The most boring unskippable cutscenes I've ever seen. A lot of the dialogue is more drawn out than it needs to be. Even if you do follow along with these cutscenes, a lot of the dialogue is weird and doesn't make much sense, and the characters often come to wild conclusions. Way too many moments where characters talk during battle, making it difficult to pay attention to the dialogue. Different characters often sound similar, making following along even harder. Subtitles are difficult to see at times without any indication on who's talking. Unimportant dialogue is often elongated and boring, but interesting things that should be elaborated on are often discarded shortly after being brought up. A lot of the cutscenes seem pointless as well, just for filler.-Having run on O. You want that thing held down at all times, but you also want to rotate the camera most of the time.-The menu is confusing. The communicator is in a particularly cheeky spot in the menu, and turning off magic skills is counterintuitive. I can recall three separate occasions where I had to relearn how to turn off magic, because I could never remember or figure out how I did it previously.-Dying puts you on Miki, who is arguably the worst character to switch after a death. She's in charge is healing and reviving, so I need to switch to Victor after death so I don't halt her. I guess this isn't that big of a deal since switching characters takes 1 button press, but it really catches me off guard especially considering your rush changes to her as well, and doesn't switch back automatically when you switch back to Fidel. Having rush change independent on who you're controlling is weird design choice imo, I would have much preferred have the rush be who I'm currently controller.-SO4 had a really nice feature where items you needed were highlighted. So when you were poisoned, the aquaberries in the menu would glow. This incredibly convenient feature was omitted from SO5, I'm assuming due to time restraints.-The shops are more cumbersome than the previous installments. You can't even buy multiple items at once anymore, which is especially weird for an RPG released in 2017.

Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness / Part 11 / Blind Lets Play / Private Action Episode RuminInLove 2023-09-04 | Around 53 minutes in are some random character convos, for anyone curious. The character convos seem RNG compared to the PA's, so those might be rarer to see. 34:17 is probably the only story important part in this episode. Overall the Private Actions are okay, just random and not very impactful. They're less cringe than some of the ones in SO4, so I'll give them that. The voice acting is a lot better than I noticed previously, with Miki in particular having a wide range with a lot of fluctuation in her deliveries. Apparently she voiced Rena in Second Evolution and has a ton of other voice acting roles, and is rather popular in the scene. All the main voice actors in this game seem to give each of the 7 main characters a distinct cadence to their voice... Except for Anne. Anne just kinda sounds normal (or like a dumb blonde...? If so, then it's very subtle). I like how their tone's change specifically when talking to Relia, like how people talk to kids IRL. I also get a kick out of that one back-up voice actor that keeps reappearing on different characters with the incredibly gruff voice, that's hilarious and charmingly campy. So really, these private actions are serviceable. I particularly like the one at 22:00, and the one at 8:01 is kinda funny due to how weird it is. I also like the one at 12:30 because the idea of a pervert becoming less perverted when drunk is sorta funny. There was also a somewhat memorable private action in a previous episode where Relia asked if she would ever see her parents again. I just wish the devs had more time to make PA's like the ones with Celine and Chris in SO2, the Ilia/Ronyx PA's in SO1, or the Blades of Ryusen or Crimson Scourge PAs in SO3 (SO3 is very underrated when it comes to PAs). The world is Star Ocean is a simulation created by a corporation called Sphere. The head of Sphere are constantly updating their game, actually called "Eternal Sphere" rather than "Star Ocean", and they're removing and adding code indefinitely. Gabriel says things like "I'm erasing you" during the final boss, and the 10 Wise Men fade away like simulations when defeated, because it could be seen as the developers of Eternal Sphere deleting code. The 10 Wise Men could be seen as the embodiments of this deletion process. So Gabriel was doing what he was literally programmed to do. The developers of Eternal Sphere are benign in motive and don't know their creation is sentient. They also probably don't know their updates/deletion of code causes history altering events in the Eternal Sphere, such as Gabriel turning to the deletion of the universe. Remember how the guy we fought before Gabriel said he was bug filled and defective? Star Ocean 2 can be seen as a video game about a dead server being deleted, and the effects it has on the plot and characters of that world.Now for Valkyrie Profile. So the universe of Star Ocean is a simulation created by the Sphere corporation. And in Star Ocean 2 and 3, there are Valkyrie Profile posters inside some of the buildings. This could mean Valkyrie Profile is another simulation by Sphere, or is an in-universe Eternal Sphere update or DLC, and the Valkyrie Profile posters are more than just easter eggs; rather than are Sphere advertising their next update/game. Usually during transitions akin to the one at 9:17, I would put my good friend ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ at the end of the wall of text for good fortune. However, I neglected doing so in this instance.... Enough of this niche, inside-joke description that no one will read or understand. The story in this game really isn't that bad. It keeps the pace moving and it's pretty easy to follow. I can understand it being hard to get immersed by in-gameplay cutscenes, but there are some good story beats here. I like how Fidel and Miki are super protective of Relia despite having just meeting her, simply because they didn't like the vibe the people she was initially with was giving off. I got a kick out of Victor's introduction, with how he just randomly enters battle with you during gameplay, and Emmerson also seems like a cool character. I also like all the seeming connections to SO3. If these cutscenes were prerendered, skippable, and had adjusted camera angles (so, normal cutscenes), then it would feel right at home. The prerendered cutscenes that are in this game are pretty good and are skippable, so it's not like the devs were just lazy. You're going to save around 60 times over the course of the game, which means you'll spend 30 whole minutes saving!-Can be hard to lock on to the enemy you want.-I hate to snobbishly list this as a "con" but some of the characters and private actions are unbearable. Meracle has a terrible character design with a terrible personality. Myuria is overlookable (I guess) since she's about as sexualized as Arumat, but her design doesn't even match her personality and the giggle physics in this game are incredibly over-the-top. Did Sarah, of all people, need such uncanny giggle physics? At least give Arumat giggle physics as well (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) Myuria is shown wearing a much cooler outfit in a flashback, that would have been much preferred over her final design. Then there's Welch. I like her design and the dance she does when you create items, and I suppose I also appreciate the enthusiasm from the VA, but I'm glad all her scenes are skippable (unlike some other cringy scenes).Pros:-Great exploration, visuals, combat, and a visually interesting menu that's a huge stylized step up from the previous games.-Crafting is more streamlined. As long as you have the right skills to boost drop rate, you can should be able to craft without much RNG or trouble.-A much needed sprint button is appreciated.-A great story, as much of a hot take as this is. I do like a lot of the characters. Edge, Reimi, Faize, Lymle, Bacchus, Crowe, and Arumat and all good in my book. Say what you want about Sarah, but she has one of the only genuinely funny scenes in the game (the nightmare scene). I also like how she saved Reimi at the end, that was a good pay off for her mentioning she can't fly in every cutscene like a broken record. And screw it, I even sorta like Myuria, I just think her design is hArDcOrE cRiNgE, dUdE!... And then there's Faize, who is one of my favorite characters in all of Star Ocean. The plot itself has many interesting beats and adds many ways to theorize and discuss Star Ocean lore. Some of my favorite cutscenes in the series are in this game. The music plays at perfect times making the cutscenes atmospheric and each story beat impactful.-Great customization. Being able to customize the ship with furniture is a nice touch, and you can even turn off the blindside animation if you wish.-A great, imo, bonus board system. You can level up reaaally quickly in this game, much quicker than you could in the previous games. Some enemies in the final dungeon give 40,000 exp by default, and with the proper bonus board you're looking at well over 100,000 per battle.-Great soundtrack, as per usual.-Able to swap out active and reserve party members during battle. A simple thing that is easy to overlook, but is much appreciated.-So far, this feels like the most balanced Star Ocean game.
