5G Apocalypse: The Extinction Event (29019) is Sacha Stone's documentary that first elevated Mark Steele from conspiratorial obscurity. Before this film, he was Gateshead's village idiot, known only for his obscure theories about lamp-posts and for shooting a teenage girl in the face.

Stone's film is a compilation of some of the most ludicrously self-promoting grifters and conspiracy theorists who have ever opined on the subject of 5G, a phone system that went live in 2018.

The apocalypse that Steele and Stone predicted never materialised. The 5G network has been live since 2019 and has proved, contrary to their claims to be just another iteration of the mobile phone network. The claims of cancer, genetic damage and wide-scale disaster also seem to have been entirely imaginary.

Producer Sacha Stone should win an award for the world's most gullible man; he's been taken in entirely by ex-con bouncer and fence installer Mark Steele, an uneducated man from Gateshead who claims to be a "weapons expert". Stone has built this entire film around Steele's wild claims, accepted entirely free of criticism.

One of the most hilarious moments of the film purports to be a teardown of what Steele describes as a "5G lamppost", set to an ominous drone and superimposed with visual noise evocative of harmful radiation, Steele points to entirely normal lamp-post components and claims that they are deadly weapons and instruments of destruction.

Stone isn't the only one taken in by Steele's grift: The video begins with David Icke who hilariously misdescribes Steele as an "Inventor" from Gateshead. Icke is famous for promoting the Lovecraftian theory that "lizard men" walk among us and have infiltrated the world's governments.

Perhaps the most telling moment of the film is it's final scene in which Stone, facing the camera, calls shame on governments and telephone companies. He reveals that despite the danger of the 5G network, there is a remedy - a protective device that he is conveniently selling at a discount. It's a patent remedy designed to counteract the deadly 5G rays. Spoiler: This whole film has been an infomercial the entire time!

Overall, it's worth watching just as a perfect example of far-right "conspirituality" propaganda. It's an example of fact-free demagoguery and concern-trolling disguised as a documentary.
