Dreadnought is the third song by Sabaton on the album The War to End All Wars.
Both Joakim and Chris are very fond of the song. The song was written by Chris and Joakim.
Joakim Brodén: "This is one of my favorites on the album, both musically and the topic itself. The song sounds like it could have been done by Sabaton in 2005 or 2008 or now, but it’s not like a copy of anything else we’ve done, so it’s weird how it feels very Sabaton but very timeless at the same time. We usually write about the human side of warfare, but sometimes a piece of technology is such a game-changer, so we did a song about the Dreadnought battleship and the Battle of Jutland. The name of the ship says it all: fear nothing."
Joakim Brodén: "The consequence of every choice you make is that you exclude other things. I've chosen for this album, for example - Dreadnought (type of battleship that was used at the beginning of the 20th century). We didn't want to do a song about something else nautical, like a submarine or something like that. On another album it could be done, but not on this one. So sometimes it's a difficult puzzle if you want listeners to be satisfied both musically and in terms of the story."
Joakim Brodén: "(...) It has something mysterious and weird, but at the same time something familiar. It contains both the present and the past. Or maybe I think it's a cool song, because for once I was right in the writing process, haha!"
Chris Rörland: "I personally love it because it also has this bombastic sound. It sounds a little dark at times and contains a really cool riff."
