Our furnace died, along with our air conditioner. We noticed that the thermostat didn't have any power. We ordered a replacement thermostat and it arrived a few days later. We swapped out the thermostat and that didn't resolve the issue. Checked the furnace and the board wasn't receiving power. Scheduled an HVAC tech to come by, he said it was a bad transformer. Few days later he replaced it, then the transformed blew a few minutes later. He said the board will need to replaced with another transformer, that would cost around $500. Or just replace the whole furnace. We were not in the market for a AC and Furnace replacement just yet, and didn't want to spend $500 in repairs on a 19yr old system. New boards cost $140 and up, and we wanted one today which no stores locally had! I searched eBay and found used control board and transformer locally. Will a used $69 controller board and transformer from eBay resolve the issue? First time I ever swapped a furnace control board what can possibly go wrong?
