When I started photographing people, I often focused heavily on the technical aspect of my images. Not until later, learning from my mentors, great portraits come from making a personal connection with each other.

Though every interaction won't be magical, you will still struggle, but it'll be a good practice. Portrait photography is so much more than just a pretty picture. Challenge yourself to capture the person's essence.
