Bolivia is one of the most famous landlocked countries in the world, because it still maintains a navy. In this video we explain why that is the case. The answer goes back to the War of the Pacific in the late 1800s, when Bolivia lost its entire coastline to Chile. Because of that, the sea remains central to its national identity, and the Bolivian Navy today operates on rivers and lakes, preparing for a potential return to open seas.
