Would you believe me if I said I started this in 2015?
I started war with Sony Vegas, nobody won and then it was on pause forever.
tl;dr I got sick of seeing it in my folder of projects and so decided to finish it lol
This is a video to demonstrate the ''darkstyle'' aesthetic, as some people probably don't see Darkstyle editing often or know what it is. As you can see this editing is nearly the opposite of Candystyle.
Through the video I altered the styles to demonstrate each style a bit more clearly.
Note: I am no way perfect on any of these methods, I am merely an EXAMPLE of the types of Darkstyle, and the style is more than just 5 tricks. I have included links below to videos which demonstrate the style more accurately - please subscribe to the editors who edited these videos!
0:00 Soft -
More compared to raw, only slightly altering the dark colouring, using fades as transitions. This one is more focusing on the clips themselves to keep flow and momentum. Hardly any overlays used and no typography for the most part.

0:50 Emotional -
Best known used with powerful songs, using lightly more harsh filmscratch overlay, slow transitions, colour bleeds or long fades. Often using clips to show their emotional pull touching scenes either tragic or heartwarming. The typography is basic but powerful.

1:40 Technical -
Using more advanced transitions such as newblue and or other advanced effects/transitions, where the editing is focused more on the effects than the footage itself. The use of composite modes like dodge or multiply for text and overlays is common and masking is a huge effect used in this style also.

My most common Darkstyle.
The colouring mostly black and white but with some hint of flesh tones or other darker colours like blue or gray. There is a use of fast transitions, and a mild to heavy use of use of movement overlays and quick fades. A filmscratch overlay placed on composite modes and overlays are a huge factor to the aesthetic style.

3.30 Grunge -
Very heavy filmscratch grunge texture. Using fast transitions, colour switching to b/w erratically. This style usually comes with big text in either stylistic fonts, such as thick textured fonts with linear movements

So, I had asked DarkAndi to a collab with me, mainly because a few of my fans *ahem* was very impressed with her MEP part in Vicarious that I hosted, saying she had amazing flow and wanted me to do a collab with her.

I was staring at Vegas, wanting to edit something as I had ideas on what I wanted to edit but no song to match it.. I have projects I should work on but they werent inspiring me. When Chi had asked if anyone was up for an IC, I jumped on bored purely on a whim.
whimiscal editing, man I hardly ever do that. Pretty pleased how this turned out even if I was way out of my comfort zone with this song.
