One quick mention for Dune, another thing that pushed it out of the library was the combat. The bidding of the soldiers and the battle-wheels was ultimately unsatisfying. The reveal was missing something climactic and felt underwhelming as the guesswork resulted in rote strategies to ensure victories and samey card play of weapons (as they returned to hand after combats) or sluffing off cards that were worthless. The battles are meant to have counter-play and exciting moments but when those moments did happen they weren't usually during key moments and even if they were would often feel unearned. Once again, these are my impressions so I'm curious what you think about this one.
