What are the chances of escaping if you’re out of oxygen? What about if your equipment malfunctions? And what do divers really look for in the deadly depths? These are some of the most terrifying cave diving accidents:
1. Parker Turner and Bill Gavin, 1991: Trapped and disoriented in the Indian Springs cave system in Florida, USA. Parker Turner died after running out of air, while Bill Gavin survived.
2. Rob Parker and Dan Malone, 1997: Experienced a dangerous dive in the Kalik Cavern, Four Sharks Blue Hole, Bahamas. Rob Parker perished during the dive, while Dan Malone survived.
3. Deon Dreyer, 1994: Died while diving in Bushman's Hole, South Africa, at a young age.
4. Dave Shaw, January 8, 2005: Died attempting to recover Deon Dreyer's body from Bushman's Hole.
5. Shane Thompson, 2016: Lost his life while exploring the Santa Rosa Blue Hole in New Mexico, USA, with his colleague Mike Young who survived the incident.
