5 Biggest Dog Breeds in the World / Abnormally Large Dogs
Hello and welcome to another episode of the Amazed 5s. Today we will be looking at large sized man’s best friend. Yes we are going to be looking at the biggest dog breeds in the world.
Dogs can be your most loyal friends ever. Big dog breeds also make awesome family pets. Don't you think so?
5. Newfoundland
To start the list we present you the Newfoundland. Newfoundland is a strong athletic dog that is huge in size. This breed of dog was bred in Canada. The original use of this dog was to help the fishermen pull their nets. That is why this breed is excellent is working in water as well as land.
4. Dogue De Bordeaux
People love Dogue De Bordeaux's deep autumn coat and a unique wrinkled appearance. Dogue De Bordeaux is the descendent of the Molossus breed of dogs that were known to be the protectors of the livestock. Also known as a French Mastiff, this big dog breed is loving and huge reaching up to 2.5 feet or 26 inches tall and weighing 100 pounds. The French Mastiff has been used for various purposes over the past years.
3. Saint Bernard
As their name suggests, Saint Bernard has a saint-like nature. Their temperament is calm and peaceful, making them an ideal family dog. The Swiss convent bred Saint Bernards. Reaching up to 30 inches, these dogs can be big. They were originally bred to protect the monastery of the Swiss people; however, their sweet and gentle nature didn't make this possible, and soon it was discovered that they had excellent searching and rescuing skills.
2. Great Dane
Great Dane is the tallest of all the dog breeds in the world with a height of up to 34 inches. The main reason for is that it is a cross between the English Mastiff and the Irish Wolfhound. Great Dane is the breed of 'Marmaduke'. The Germans bred this tall and giant dog breed for the same purpose many of the dogs in this list were bred, that is, hunting boars and as a guardian.
Finally at number 1 spot is the English Mastiff. This dog breed is one of the largest in the world. Weighing up to 250 pounds, these dogs can reach heights of 30 inches. English Mastiff holds the record of being the heaviest dog in the world. Hence, this dog is tall as well as large due to its weight.
English Mastiffs were originally bred from the war-dogs however now they make an ideal pet. They love snuggling with their human owners, and people love them.
