Nyaanachi Studio Shaft has pumped out some of the most recognizable anime from the late 2000's to the mid 2010's. Each project of theirs has a specific Shaft flare that makes them unique compared to your average anime production. Most of their shows nowadays turn out incredibly well produced, but that wasn't always the case. In fact, Bakemonogatari's production was particularly rocky and shows produced before it seemed to have a rough time as well.

Missing in Adaptation

Nyaanachi 2025-01-25 | Goldy Pond is an extremely well loved part of The Promised Neverland, and likely many manga reader’s second favorite arc just behind Grace Field. Season 2 of the anime was expected to cover it, and considering how outstanding the quality of the first season was, hype was astronomically high. Unfortunately what we got instead was a piecemeal version of the remainder of the Promised Neverland story, all crammed together into an original mess of a second season.

While season 2 finished the story, albeit horribly, it failed to include the one section of the manga that readers were most excited for…

That section… was Goldy Pond

I’m not here to bash on the second season of The Promised Neverland. Nor am I here to compare it to how the manga plays out. What I’m here to do is to give you a taste of what the anime could have been by exploring Goldy Pond, an arc that has been Missing in Adaptation.

Missing in Adaptation Trailer

Nyaanachi 2024-12-31 | Goldy Pond is the only section of The Promised Neverland to be left un-adapted into an anime format. Although the remainder of the manga was ruined by the patchy version of it portrayed by season 2, I always felt that Goldy Pond got the roughest treatment. Therefore, I took it upon myself to detail what we missed out on with an original second season, rather than an adaptation.

The video will cover: Why we like Grace Field, The lead up to Goldy Pond, Why the Tactical Battles work so well, Leuvis' Character, and How the Promised Neverland has kept its consistent theming.

It was a bit of a rough script, but I liked enough of the content to keep it as is. While parts of the final product may feel like a retelling, I do feel as though I was able to express my love for this manga within the entirety of the 1 hour video. The ending portion is some of my best writing to date.

Shin Sekai Yori is Something Special

Nyaanachi 2023-06-01 | Shin Seki Yori is a realistic "What if" scenario depicting the reality of psychic powers on a well developed society. The story covers three chapters of the main character's life, at ages: 12, 14, and 26. As the story progresses, you witness the horrid past of the village, strict laws to prevent disaster, and the devastating toll that psychic powers have on their users.

Shin Sekai Yori is Something Special. I discovered this anime back in 2019 via Spotify radio playing "Wareta Ringo", the first ending song of the show. From there I have watched this show, rewatched this show, and rewatched this show again, only to solidify it as one of my all time favorites. All the while the show continues to fall into obscurity right before my very eyes. I hope that anyone watching this video truly gives the show a chance to tell one of the most unique takes that the sci-fi genre has to offer.

Editor's note: Sorry for the delay on this video. I've become increasingly picky with my scripts because I know my writing is stronger than my editing skills. Most of the delays came from school getting in the way, but I am also addicted to playing Splatoon so I can't pin the delay all on school.

I also apologize for the long winded intro. In an attempt to write an interesting opener , my ADHD grabbed a hold of the video for a solid 8 minutes. OMORI: A Relatable Journey

In august I had the opportunity to visit the OMORI Art Exhibit hosted by Nucleus in Alhambra, California. The exhibit was incredible. Not just the exhibit, but the trip as a whole was something I'll never forget. I took the time to record some footage, and made a video essay to go with it.

My childhood house, at the time of writing this video, was being prepped for sale. I was dealing with many emotions at the time, and I didn't know what to do with them. I wrote this video as a way to relieve those emotions, in a way that relates back to OMORI. The house has since sold, but my memories of it will forever be present.

Shimeji Simulation is a slice of life manga with a psychedelic twist. Not everything is as it seems in the town of West Yomogi. Read as the main protagonists play around with what weird happenings each day has in store.

If I had to pick a scene from the Monogatari Series that stood out the most to me it would definitely be this one. The pure bond and character growth between Koyomi and Karen is absolutely stunning, and the scene itself has the best visuals in the entire show. Nisioisin is a master storyteller and he never misses a beat, this is just proof of his otherworldly writing prowess. Let me take you on a journey as we dive into the quite possibly the best part of the Monogatari Series.

The Horror of Doing Whats Right

Nyaanachi 2021-10-31 | This video takes a deep dive into the "Heroic" actions of Madoka, Homura, Norman, Emma, and Phosphophyllite in their respective stories (Madoka Magica, The Promised Neverland, Land of the Lustrous). Each of these characters took action to create a future that they believed was right, committing many atrocities along the way. Begging the question:

What does it mean to do the right thing?

If one seeks justice they may have to shed blood in the process.

Wow this video took a long time to create, and the videos length is the most ambitious yet. I'm glad I was able to put this one out. Even if it is super spoiler heavy, I hope you can find some enjoyment in it.
