Long Range FPV - Tree Gap to Shear Cliff at 100kph+ GoPro 11 FalconRad FPV 2023-09-10 | Aiming for a dive gap while going over 100kph made these flights a bit unnerving. A crash at that speed would smash my FPV drone to pieces. But the mountain was perfect for it with its tall shear cliff and incredible ridge lines, so I had to give it a try. I did the first four flights with my analog RAD Li-ion build using 18650 li-ion batteries. After getting used to the flight lines and making sure I would always have line of sight to the drone I switched to my Falcon RPM build with 3000mAh lipos and the DJI 03 air unit for the improved video clarity and maneuverability. Free Range FPV with the Demibot - Hero 11 Mini 10-bit 4k FalconRad FPV 2023-08-12 | Got some FPV flights in with my build of the Demibot frame on my last trip into the mountains. EPIC! Do or Die Long Range FPV FalconRad FPV 2023-04-22 | This was the most intense long range FPV flight of my life. My mind was set on flying through an ice arch just a few feet from a glacier. 4k FPV Drone Flight - Propellers Just Inches From The Ice! FalconRad FPV 2023-03-25 | This in one of the most challenging long range FPV flights I have ever done. Over 5km away lies a glacier with deep cracks and channels. I have found a route that takes my FPV drone deep into the glacial ice to capture video footage that would be far too dangerous to attempt in person. RAD Scout 7 UL Long Range FPV Drone - 135g - 32km Range FalconRad FPV 2023-02-27 | The RAD Scout 7" UL Long Range FPV drone frame weighs in at just 135g while providing plenty of space to fit all the gear you need for xtra long range FPV flights. If you're looking for a long range build with big flight times and a range of up to 32 kilometers, the RAD Scout has you covered. The RAD Scout's side braces give the 6mm thick foam core carbon fiber arms the extra stiffness required to capture nice GoPro footage. For those of you interested more in flight time than GoPro footage, the RAD Scout can be flown without the side braces reducing the frame weight by another 20g to just 115g! Without the braces the simple arm design of the RAD Scout further minimizes air vortices and drag resulting in even longer flight times. More complex arm designs can increase drag in forward flight and create vortices of turbulent air as the thrust columb collides with lots of edges, corners and cutouts resulting in shorter flight times. This video has several flight examples providing proven results of realistic achievable flight times. All flight examples use the full 135g frame WITH side braces. Although there are TPU parts to accommodate using an 03 air unit I recommend using either an analog setup or a caddx vista with the RAD Scout. Can a Long Range FPV Drone Build Fly For Too Long? FalconRad FPV 2022-11-19 | I've been testing 8s li-ion packs with two of my long range FPV builds for a while now. This one is a full range (10km+ from home) build with a diversity receiver (two antennas), an 800mW VTX and full size 8s 30x30 stack. Three key parts of flight efficiency are weight, motors & battery.
