I think it's incredible how they've managed to turn an RPG combat system into a competitive sport; (One with RNG, but still) for me, it's the best side of Pokemon, and no matter how easy they might make the main adventure these days, you can still count on online battling to satisfy my Pokemon battle itch, as I call it.However, it wasn't always so easy to find opponents to give me the challenge I craved. What if he suddenly decided he weren't going to move an inch? The games would be completely impossible, right?Well, not in Sonic Mania if you're playing Sonic & Tails mode and a certain orange fox by his side. By using a second controller, Tails can be moved by another player. If he flies above Sonic's head, he can pick him up and carry him for as long as he can stay in the air.Many years ago, back in the "I made too many Sonic challenges" era, the very first challenge I did was the Sonic Cripple Challenge, where I attempted to beat various acts from these games without moving Sonic at all and carrying him everywhere as Tails. Today, I decided to revive this topic...The rules are simple. Just reach the end as many acts as possible without touching any direction buttons on the first player's controller. Unfortunately, in Sonic Mania, Sonic cannot be picked up from the ground, so I've had to allow Sonic to jump in order for the challenge to work. This leaves almost all the work to Tails. Can any acts be beaten this way? Creepy Bad Endings # 98 whoisthisgit 2022-06-21 | The previous episode of Creepy Bad Endings was focused on the Sega Genesis adventures of a music-loving duo who practically embody the spirit of the 90's, so it's only fitting that the "sequel" should focus on the OTHER duo who met all those requirements, though this one is portrayed under a much more negative light...Bad endings. I don't know about anyone else, but they terrify me. Just when the hero(es) thought everything was finally right, just when it looked like peace had finally returned to the world, something happens that, at best, creates a bittersweet victory and, at worst, spoils everything and the enemies win, despite everything that happened throughout your adventure. Boss Analysis # 57 whoisthisgit 2022-05-13 | In the fifty-seventh episode of Boss Analysis, we return to Super Bomberman for the final time with the fifth and last game in the series and attempt to defeat each of the bosses with no upgrades whatsoever.This means no firepower upgrades, no additional bombs, no speed-ups, etc. Thankfully, now we're back in post-Bomberman 2 days again, the standard firepower is 2 rather than a measly 1. Praise to the bomb god for these small mercies!Surprisingly, Bagura doesn't make a return, (yet) instead this game focuses on Terrorin and Fiendish Bombers, who Terrorin frees from their prison and teams up with to rule the universe. Can You Beat Zero Wing Without Defeating Any Enemies? whoisthisgit 2022-04-15 | Zero Wing for the Genesis, known to most for its infamous intro containing delicious amounts of Engrish and the All Your Base Are Belong To Us meme that spawned from it.Believe it or not, I have owned it for years, long before the meme came along in 2001. I've seen a number of people bash the game unfairly and I don't really understand why - I've always thought it was a perfectly good shoot 'em up, in fact, I played it quite a lot and even beat it a few times.One thing that always stood out to me was that defeating the bosses was entirely optional: once they've been around long enough and still haven't been killed, they will leave of their own accord and you can continue without feeling the guilt of their death weighing on your conscience. I believe this is a feature for arcade shooters to prevent players from stalling, but why they still have it in a Genesis game, I can't work out.Well, for old time's sake, I decided to see if it were possible to beat the entire game without killing any enemy at all, or any killable object whatsoever, really. Though I had made text-commentry videos before then, (Double Dragon playthroughs, How To Get Secret Bonus Points in Dynamite Headdy and Tails Abuse In Court say hi) these were essentially the first of what is now my most common format.I had to put myself back into my mind and equipment of back then, using only stuff available to me at the time; I tell you, when you limit yourself into using Windows Movie Maker's features, it makes you appreciate Sony Vegas a lot more again.Whenever I rewatch these old videos again, a part of me dies at how crude they look and don't know how I or anyone else put up with it; Just look at that horrible blue line on the side of the screen in much of the footage. But at the same time, I think they still have their own charm, though that might be my bias towards myself talking there.As you may have noticed from the original intro, the prince from Prince of Persia was intended to be one of the earliest characters featured in the series. This was mainly down to how clunky and strange his movement is in the Genesis version of the game, which always baffled and amused me when I played the game as a kid. In the end, I decided this wasn't really enough to warrant an episode, but his inculsion in the intro has always bothered me nonetheless. Ranking Every Monster from Dragon Quest: Tornekos Great Adventure whoisthisgit 2022-03-30 | Every monster from the first Mystery Dungeon game ranked from least annoying (F tier) to most annoying! (S tier)Before Pokemon even existed, Taloon Torneko of Dragon Quest IV fame was already exploring Mystery Dungeons to search of treasure! After the events of the fourth game, Torneko and his wife & son leave Endor to fulfill Torneko's dream of becoming the greatest arms merchant in the world, and they locate the exclusive mystery dungeon in order to complete this goal.Unlike with the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, which only lower your level to 1 for some of the fiendishly difficult post-game dungeons, Torneko's game resets your level to 1 every time you re-enter any of the dungeons. This along with a smaller but more unique cast of monsters allows the enemies to stick out in my mind more vividly than the countless hordes of Pokemon foes in those games.As such, I have a lot more to say about each and every one of the 32 monsters found in this SNES classic: some are near harmless, but others will make you want to chuck your SNES out of the window!That's where this video comes in. I decided to rank every monster in the game depending on how I feel about them, their abilities and the effect it'll have on the portly merchant's quest. Please note that this is not an objective list, it's based purely on my own opinions. Weirdest Levels Ever # 10 whoisthisgit 2022-02-22 | In the land of gaming, jumping is one of the basic abilities you'll have in most genres, especially if you find yourself in a platform game.According to Wikipedia, Jumping or leaping is "a form of locomotion or movement in which an organism or non-living (e.g., robotic) mechanical system propels itself through the air along a ballistic trajectory. Jumping can be distinguished from running, galloping and other gaits where the entire body is temporarily airborne, by the relatively long duration of the aerial phase and high angle of initial launch." Er, yeah, okay...Despite its prominence in ficitional video games, you don't exactly see many people leaping around constantly, unless you live at the circus or something. Perhaps this is why I've turned into a jumpaholic whenever the option is available to me - I struggle to keep my fingers off the button for more than a few seconds.But as long as it's not hurting anyone and I'm having fun, it shouldn't matter how often I leap around, right?... Right?
