Flat Earth Sun - Angular Size Prediction Math ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sun altitude = 5,000 km FE equator radius = 10,018.75 km Sun diameter = 65 km Observer lat. = 28 deg. N
1. Distance between observer and equator. (10,018.75km / 90deg) * 28deg = 3,116.9 kilometers
2. Distance between observer and sun @ solar noon. sqrt(3,116.9km^2 + 5,000km^2) = 5,891.94 kilometers
3. Angular size of the sun @ solar noon. 2 * atan(65deg / (2 * 5,891.94km) = 0.63 degrees
4. Distance between observer and equator under morning sun. sqrt((10,018.75km - 3,116.9km)^2 + 10,018.75km^2) = 12,165.9 kilometers
5. Distance between observer and morning sun. sqrt(12,165.9km^2 + 5,000km^2) = 13,153.3 kilometers
6. Angular size of the morning sun. 2 * atan(65deg / (2 * 13,153.3km) = 0.28 degrees
7. Factor of sun angular size difference. 0.63deg / 0.28deg = 2.25
Conclusion - Between sunrise and solar noon, the sun would grow by 2.25 times according to the Flat Earth model. ---------------------------------------------------------------
