Initially, after World War II, there was a huge baby boom causing countries like Singapore to try to slow how many babies people were having with programs like "Stop at Two." Those programs might have been too effective though as the fertility rate plummeted from about 4 or 5 babies in 1960 to just around 1 today. This didn't just happen in Singapore either. To try to get those babies back, Singapore gave a baby bonus worth $120,000 and created a government dating site among other things. Following that same idea, Japan made a robot called Yotaru so parents can learn what it's like to have a baby, Russia made a holiday called "Day of Conception" and Italy has put provocative ads around the country. Still, people aren't reproducing at a level that could replace the population: 2.1. Well it’s pretty simple actually. The light from the sun is white, but white is a mixture of all colors in the rainbow. Each color has a different wave type and the wave of blue is the shortest and most wavy. When the blue waves makes contact with the particles in the atmosphere they are scattered more efficiently than the other light waves in that white light spectrum. Since it is spread out across the vast sky, it blocks out all of the other competing colors and the stars since they are less vibrant compared to the blue. So the fact is that blue is the most efficient color for the sky so the sky is blue.

It’s soccer or football based on what you want to call the game. Every 4 years, that game is celebrated worldwide with a common tournament, this being the FIFA World Cup. This story is about an event cherished by countries worldwide from continent to continent. This is the story of the world cup.First, let’s walk down memory lane, all the way back to the beginning of the 20th century. Just three decades earlier the first ever international soccer match was played and professional soccer was spreading like wildfire worldwide. In 1900 the sport achieved a spot in the well known stage of the Olympics, with one condition. It was a demonstration sport and there were no medals awarded. 8 years later, the game proved it was worthy and became an official Olympic sport, again with a catch however. Only amateur athletes were allowed to compete. A few years passed and in 1914, the previously created FIFA, took over the sport for the olympics. This partnership continued for a decade and a half when FIFA decided to make their own competition. This brought the birth of the World Cup in 1930 held in Uruguay. Only 13 nation’s teams showed up to the competition, but that was enough to start. Uruguay won the initial tournament with its strong home field advantage.Since the beginning, there have been tournaments every four years except during world war two to find which country had the best soccer team. Apparently some countries are much better than others at the game and only 8 different countries have won the tournament. Nonetheless, most of the world’s countries go out in the years prior to the tournament to become the next world champion.Just like the winning team, the location has varied over the years and has gone from Africa to North America to South America and the like. The countries are picked by FIFA and must be ready for the costly games. The next countries in line for the games are Qatar and the entire continent of North America in 2026. Though the great price associated with the tournament, the country can gain exposure during the games. Consistently the World Cup has billions of people chime in with over 3 billion total people watching the games at some point and in 2014 over 1 billion people watched the final match alone.Even today, the World Cup has continued to be an exciting extravaganza across the planet and it continues to grow today. Soccer is almost a religion across the world and FIFA is smiling while it rakes in billions of dollars in revenue from the event. Do you like the World Cup? Candy, pretzels maybe, but peanuts are probably the winner. Just like popcorn and the movies or baseball games and hot dogs, peanuts have been connected with flights for as long as you could fly, but why?In the early days of commercial airlines the competition was fierce. The highly regulated transportation had all flights being the same price so airlines were ranked on something else… that being their food.With stabilized flights in the 1930s, airplanes could now have kitchens cooking up delicious meals for the customers that the young airlines needed, all complimentary of course to win over the consumers. This lasted for decades until the regulations were changed and Southwest Airlines changed the game forever.Southwest, a new airline, focused on cheap fares so anyone could travel. The airline had to advertise their new prices and cut down on costs, thus bringing the peanut. You could pay a peanut to travel so they fed you peanuts too. Beginning in the 1970s this showed how big meals weren’t needed and price was really king.Over time, many other airlines adopted the complimentary snack and peanuts became a staple of air travel. Returning to the present day, more and more budget airlines have been created and the era of complimentary snacks is dying out due to costs of flights and low demand after 9/11 along with the outbreak of allergies related to peanuts.Today, peanuts are still served in the airline where it all started, Southwest, and a few others in the industry. Overall though, almost all complimentary airline services have gone away. There is still hope for the future of air travel though, with new advancements being made and costs being cut, travel is only getting faster and cheaper. We’ll just have to wait to see what flying brings us next.

During the construction of Disneyland and later on the other parks created by Disney, the creators had little space and they were running out of money.The Imagineers and Walt decided to use something called Forced Perspective to make things look different from what they actually are. This little trick has been a game changer for years to come inside and out of the Disney parks.
