Join me on a relaxing, almost hypnotic bike ride from the Venice Beach Pier to the guest cottage of Marion Davies, actress and mistress to William Randolph Hearst, in Santa Monica, with a musical backdrop provided by legendary Venice guitar guru Vinnie Caggiano. You'll float past multimillion dollar beach homes as well as homeless encampments and will get a feel for the charm and quirkiness of Venice as well as the more genteel Santa Monica, both beautiful and appealing in their own ways. The area still celebrates Jim Morrison, especially with murals, most notably the thirty-five feet tall Rip Cronk mural on Ocean Front Walk in Venice. The area contains most of the buildings and the artistic vibe that drew Morrison and The Doors here many years ago.
