Thomas the Tank Engine operates at the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit, MI. There are a number of places that operate Day Out With Thomas events in the United States, but Henry Ford is the only location you can see a fully operable Thomas operating on a turntable.
It's an interesting contrast. This fully operable Thomas typically runs at the Strasburg Rail Road in Strasburg, PA, where he is their smallest steam engine operating with a normal sized train pushing nine wooden coaches on a decent grade. At Henry Ford, he is the most powerful operating locomotive available. Thomas makes easy work around the loop of track around Greenfield Village, which recreates the 1860s era of Henry Ford's childhood.

In the heart of the Amish farmlands of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania lies the famed Strasburg Rail Road of Strasburg, Pennsylvania. The Strasburg Rail Road, or SRC for short, has been a staple of the regions tourism since the 1960s. Since 1967 2-10-0 Baldwin Standard Decapod No. 90 has been a staple, too, of this iconic Road to Paradise. Their largest, youngest steam engine has wowed thousands of passengers each year on the 4.5 mile ride through the Amish farmlands from East Strasburg to Leaman Place Jct.
Built in 1924 by the Baldwin Locomotive works of Philadelphia, PA, the 90 was originally owned by the Great Western Railway of Colorado where she hauled sugar beets. Operated until 1967, the 90 has been on the Strasburg Rail Road ever since. Now, nearly a century after being built, she still steams, hauling tourists and railfans alike for the SRC. It has become one of the most recognized and popular steam engines in the world. Theres no doubt that the number 90 is an icon of steam preservation and the SRC itself.
Wed like to give a huge thanks to the SRC, fireman Matthew Flanagan and the SRCs David Lotfi for working with us to coordinate this videos production. This video is the culmination of four months of planning and a month of filming. The Cherry Hill segments (East and West bound) alone were a full day of filming.
