So this all started about a week ago when I was looking over the previous TAS and I was having doubts about the character/vehicle combo I used. When I originally made my TAS I thought the most important stat that influenced this TAS was acceleration without even considering the other stats and drift styles. So then I looked to my group of friends in the TAS community to see if they had any thoughts and they agreed that it was worth testing different combos. Basically it was down to 4 logical combinations Toad or Toadette on the Quacker, or Toad or Toadette on the Bit-bike. After some testing I came to the conclusion the the Bit Bike was way faster in this case because the entry into the glitch can be taken much better because of outside drift. Then I did some testing and discovered that the small speed, off-road, and off-road handling stats that came with Toadette was more beneficial than Toad's acceleration bonus. After that was figured out I began optimizing and optimizing. It took a while but I finally got the good entry into the wall by getting enough height along with the perfect angle to hit the block behind. After this the only big room for time save is optimized driving in the oob/offroad section. This part was probably the most tedious part of the run because you have to go through the checkpoints in order aince this isn't an ultra shortcut, which basically caused trouble because you had to hit a checkpoint at the first frame you could without touching the other checkpoints or going through them in the wrong order. This run is way more optimized than the last run and I believe this is the limit or close to the limit for this track. Again I want to thank everyone for their support and for getting me to 100 subs and stay tuned for more content!

ACTIVE TASER ALERT jk not really. I started this run along time ago before I stopped TASing regularly but recently I went back and finished this lap 1 because I don't think ill come back to this again and wanted to get something out there because I'm proud of it. Its not super optimized but I think its cool so thats cool, hope you enjoyed. It also uses old startslide because it was started a long time ago. Also idc if superhopping is faster because superhopping isnt real
TAS Awards are coming i promis :)[TAS] Mario Kart Wii Softlock% in 2:06.67Wade4742021-11-13 | Watch in highest quality possible! (especially 60fps)
ATTN: This is a TAS or tool-assisted speedrun. This time will not count on any real-time rankings. Done on Dolphin 5.0 LUA Core with DTMs, savestates, slowdown, frame advance, Infodisplay, and TASToolkit.
Authors: Wade along with Doofenshmirtz, Akari, and Marth for the GV TAS inputs
Timing: The last input was on frame 7600 which equals to about 2:06.67
Input Display: Big thanks to WhatisLoaf for helping to create an input display to show the inputs of this TAS. Also note that the input display does desync over time so it is relatively accurate near the beginning of the run but is desynced by a few frames near the end. This was most likely due to an issue with DTMs or inconsistent load times.
𝗥𝘂𝗻 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟏 - 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐠 [0:00-0:31] This section was obviously pretty simple as it mainly consists of just trial and error of the first frame you can press the A button. The only really interesting strategy used in the menus is that you can actually skip the bottom button in a list if you scroll up before it fully loads (you can see this used at 0:25 and 1:12) credit to @Kierio04 for this super epic strat.
𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟐 - 𝟐𝟒 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐮𝐧 [0:31 to 1:45] This section is definetly the most interesting part of the run. The goal in this section is to complete the race as fast as possible while performing the correct inputs to overload the ghost file in the fastest time possible. A huge help in this section was from WhatisLoaf who discovered that the fastest possible time to max out the ghost file is 1681 frames or about 24 seconds. The reason that this is the fastest time is because the ghost file stores inputs in 3 categories which include the analog stick, trick inputs, and all the face buttons and the game stores an extra 2 bytes when you switch inputs so the fastest way is the switch inputs every frame for each of those categories (credit: youtu.be/VcBVLxmuON4). So the main challenge was doing this while completing GV in 24 seconds. For this I used TAS Toolkit which allows you to modify inputs with a spreadsheet/text file. If you look at the input display during this section you can see that I am using the L button (shroom) to fill the face button category, the right d-pad button to fill the trick category, and I am alternating the vertical stick input from 6 to 8 to fill that category. The reason this section looks unoptimized is because the minimum time was 24 seconds so I didn't have to worry about optimization of the actual run. After you finish the race while maxing out the inputs you have to view the replay of the ghost and let it play out to activate the race in replay glitch which leads to the next section. This is the only section of the run that is impossible to improve as of now (besides maybe menuing).
𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟑 - 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐆𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 [1:45 to 2:07] Once in the race in replay glitch the goal is now just complete the race as fast as possible. For this section I had to do little work due to the fact that there is already a TAS of Grumble Volcano glitch that I could use the inputs of. This TAS was created by Doofenshmirtz, Akari, and Marth so big shout-outs to them. The only issue with this is that MKWii thinks you are in a replay and when you are in a replay the A button actually pauses the game so during the run you see the game pause twice which was the result of having the A button released and pressed again during the course of the TAS. I'm not entirely sure if it would have been beneficial to modify the TAS to prevent these A button pressed because I think it would lose more time than I lost with the pauses but I'm not entirely sure (also the GV TAS itself is improvable). Anyways after you complete the race you are in a completely softlocked state where you can no longer progress in the game unless you exit the game/power off the console.
If you made it through all of this thank you and I hope you enjoyed the video.

Again I know that CT Flaps are irrelevant but I really liked this shortcut and thought it would be cool to showcase in a TAS. Not entirely sure how this works but I can guess that its just weird track collision/thin walls. I did not find this btw. I'm 95% sure that the turns I used the mushrooms on are optimal from testing. There's some little things about the run that can probably be improved such as the tricks at the end but those bumps are really weird and extremely QM. I started this run a long time ago and just recently decided to finish it and I'm overall pretty satisfied with the run.

I know that CT Flaps are irrelevant but I wanted someway to showcase this without doing a 3-lap. I watched the 200cc bkt of this track and thought this glitch looked interesting so I decided to see if it was possible on 150cc since it seemed that it was only possible on 200cc. I went to testing and suddenly realized how the actual glitch worked. I thought at first it was just a fully solid platform that was just randomly placed but it is actually all out of bounds. Therefore it made it much more difficult because you have to land on the seams of the collision where you are not detected oob to be able to do this glitch. I first performed the glitch with a rapid fire hop ejection to get onto the top platform and hopping onto the lower but then after testing the glitch more I realized that it was possible with some good ol' TF physics and a decent angle. This glitch is viable for a 3lap run and is rta viable even though it is very precise. GL to anyone who is going to attempt this rta.
Thank you to tZ for helping me with finding a code to partially fix the weird bloom on this track

After I saw ancient's TAS I wanted to try this track out for myself because I thought it was an interesting concept so I ended up making a TAS out of it. You may notice that the start slide looks a little weird but that is because the actual track is very narrow so I couldn't do the second half of the start slide (start slide actually did still save time). The main improvements from ancient's TAS are the landing from the first mushroom pad and the ending. You may notice that I lose speed around 0:23, that is intentional because I needed to get the correct QM to be able to land on the correct spot on the next block so I could get the tiny bit of air I need and not hit the mushroom pad (the collision is very weird), if someone were to further improve upon this TAS I see that as the main point of improvement.

Challenge ➤ There is one chain wheelie in this TAS that is not a perfect chain, if you can find it (include timestamp) you win a prize (hint: its not the mushrooms)
Notes about the Run ➤ This TAS can be improved by about 50 milliseconds. This is due to the fact that the start boost isn't fully optimal because I originally made this TAS without the speed modifier because I didn't realize there was a track speed modifier so I actually wheelie six frames late which loses about 10 milliseconds however I didn't want to rerecord for obvious reasons. This TAS was much harder to record than to actually make. I had to record with OBS due to the file size of dolphin frame dumps. The other 40 ms is due to the fact that I didn't use a start slide which would save about 40 milliseconds (because this would require me to actually do like optimal wheelie turns because I wouldn't be going straight). Also I added a timer in the bottom right (Hours:Minutes:Seconds.Frames) because the in-game one maxes out at 99:59.999. I timed this run by starting at the first frame which the in game time increased and ending at the first frame which the yellow finish text occured.
Speedometer and Visual Bug ➤ The speedometer in the bottom right of the screen is an on screen XYZ speedometer. The reason the values increase at intervals and then eventually stop increasing is because this track for some reason starts you at a Z position of over -2000000 and since the game uses floating point memory to store your position, floating point data addresses only have so many digits of precision, so when you move really far on one axis, the digits are used up in front of the decimal place and your position gets more and more jittery which is why it looks like funky starts shaking at the end.

I started this run about 2 months back when I saw Noxpro's run of this. I have been very on and off with this project so I'm happy to finally have it finished. I am over very satisfied with this run although I think a few things can be improved. First off you can actually take the turn at 0:17 a little tighter saving a few milliseconds but I couldn't manage to get the same QM on the next ramp to start the RFH. I am pretty confident with the strats on this category. If I continue this run into lap 2 the remaining shrooms will be used in the same spot and then the off-road section shortly after the regular shroom-spot. I may or may not finish this run depending on future projects. Hope you all enjoyed this TAS as much as I did. This track is very enjoyable and I'm glad it made its way into CTGP.
NOTE ➤ This TAS does not use the respawn shortcut because it is technically a glitch [youtu.be/T2U9lU3ElXc]. Also note that the speedometer gets progressively more out of sync for whatever reason.

TAS BKT Cut: N/A TAS compared to RTA BKT: -11.195
After I finished Coconut Mall No-ultra I knew this was the second TAS I wanted to make for 200cc. Back when 200cc was released to CTGP I remember seeing the shortcut after the cannon which was the main reason I wanted to TAS this category. After a little bit of testing I realized you could do the 150cc Glitch Flap strat where you can go through the zipper near the regular cut without using a shroom. To get this you do need the speed from the trick off the boost ramp before hand which is why I get a bit more height than I could have on that ramp. This part was probably the most frustrating part to replicate after I got it lap 1. Additionally getting the low cannon was a little annoying as well. This TAS is fairly optimized but it is not perfect. Overall I am very satisfied with the outcome of this TAS and let me know which track you want to see next!
The speedometer labelled as "km/h" on the bottom left is normal vehicle speed (most commonly used speedometer), and the speedometer labelled as "SPEED" in the bottom right is a much more accurate speed reading (The XYZ speed) which is a measurement of your speed based off of your movement in position on all 3 axes.

TAS BKT Cut: N/A TAS compared to RTA BKT: -8.443
Back in the day when 200cc was first released on CTGP I instantly started time-trialing this specific category due to the parking-lot skip. I think I got up to like 20th on the leaderboards but this category was so much fun to time-trial, so once I heard CTGP 200cc had been ported to Dolphin I instantly started working on this TAS because I knew it was the first one I wanted to do. The only big strat change that I used compared to the RTA BKT is doing the TAS 150cc No-ultra strat in Lap 1 which saved a bunch of time. I enjoyed every second of making this TAS. I mostly just did this for fun. I think this TAS is decently optimized but it is far from perfect. I think most things in this run can be improved, especially the glitch lap 1 and a few of the turns. Since this is a speed mod I didn't really feel like fully optimizing this run. Although it isn't full optimized, I am very satisfied with the outcome of this run. I hope you enjoyed and lmk if you want to see more 200cc TASes in the future.

Yeah this wack. This is my first time playing 300cc and I think it went pretty well. I think the main time save comes from the shortcut and because I used Toad which saved time since it is required to hit the wall. This is improvable. My lap 1 shortcut was the best. Well here we are. Snoop saw my original TAS lap 1 for this track and then asked me if I wanted to collaborate on a more optimized version because she has had experience with this track in the past. It was a great collaboration although I was on vacation for some of the run so I was there for moral support, but I did end up helping out in the beginning and the end of the run. Big shoutouts to TAS Snoop for her awesome efforts and I could have definitely not done it without her. One of the main struggles with this run was the exit for the shroom shortcut because there are many methods to exit the shortcut but the way we found to be fastest was to just spindrift and align for the next turn. Although this was faster it gave a really tight angle into the next turn so Snoop had an idea to do a reo drift there to get a much better angle (0:24) and it turns out after lots of testing that is the fastest way to do that section. Another main struggle throughout the run was the section (0:39-0:43) which caused a lot of issues with the entry to the pipe depending on the angle of the turn which caused a lot of QM issues but it just took many tries and a lot of effort to get it down pat. In the process of making this TAS we found a lot of ramps to work differently than expected which led to many interesting strats like (0:43) where it is not faster to hop and low trick and the double trick ramp at (0:55) which is actually faster to get a higher double trick so you have more speed in the air and you land farther so you get the second boost so it lasts longer than the low double trick. We do not currently have plans to make a full 3 lap tas because of the length of the track. Overall me and Snoop are very satisfied with the way the run turned out even though we did not reach the sub 56. Also thanks to Snoop there is an awesome mini TAF at the end!

This track is wack. I discovered a way to get into the blocks without going to the right side as done in current RTA BKT. It saves a few seconds in addition to optimized out of bounds movement and the use of toad with the quacker to max acceleration. I'm guessing a low to mid 13 is possible. Also thanks to NRStar (a former bkt holder on the track) for explaining how this glitch works and helping me along the way.

Well the run is finally done! Crystal Plains Glitch is an awesome category on an incredible Custom Track! I hope all of you are as happy and impressed with this run as me and Kierio are. This run was a joy to make and a joy to collaborate on. This run would not be as clean and optimized without the help of Kierio. This is the first TAS that I have poured my heart and soul into and really tried to optimize and I hope all of you can see that. I also want to thank FoxAmexion for helping me in earlier iterations of the run, and I want to thank the rest of the TAS community for encouraging me and giving me feedback on my runs. Overall this was a joy to make and it definitely will not be my last TAS. ;)
Please note Kierio found a few slightly faster strats on lap 2 between the teleport and the block hit so lap 1 could technically be improved a little bit. We estimate the limit for this TAS is a 59.xxx so if you ask “is sub possible?” then you should have read the description lel.

Well I saw this track in CTGP and it was really fun so I decided to make a quick TAS of it and here we are! Obviously this is Prelim because its just a test. This was very fun to make and might improve on it!
Watch in 1440p60! This is about how far this lap is going to go which is very exciting because it means its time for lap 2 \o/ ! This run features a different approach to the second half of the glitch first featured in the last improvement video. As it was a new strategy it had not been optimized fully yet. With the current strategies I believe this is close if not at peak potential. Kierio helped optimize the second part of the shortcut adding a hop so instead of landing at 0 km/h we land at around 34 km/h. He also redid the turn returning to the track and help optimized the last turn. Overall I think this can't get pushed much farther. Thanks for watching :)
