At 45 White Oak, the millwork is doing far more than storing things. It is shaping the experience of the house. Doors disappear into paneled walls. Veneer runs uninterrupted from the mudroom through the pantry and into the kitchen. Stone wraps vanities, islands, and sinks with almost no visual noise. What feels calm on camera is actually the result of intense coordination between shop, site, architect, and designer long before install day.
The hardest work is hidden in the restraint. Oversized entry doors were engineered to stay perfectly flat. Pivot doors were detailed to hold razor-tight reveals. Stone fronts were hollowed from the back so they could move like cabinetry but still read as solid mass. A custom guillotine cabinet door, concealed medicine cabinets, integrated pulls, hidden HVAC, and full-height storage walls all had to function without breaking the visual rhythm.
