In 2025, Jess took on the incredible challenge of running 42 marathons to celebrate what would have been her brother Eddie’s 42nd year.

On 15th June 2021, Jess’s world was shattered when Eddie died in an accident. He was her oldest brother, but he was so much more than that. Eddie was her rock, her parent figure, and her best friend all rolled into one.

Having already lost both of her parents far too young, Jess has struggled deeply with grief over the years. Losing Eddie was another devastating loss, and for a long time it was difficult to imagine how happiness could ever exist alongside the grief. But Jess has come to realise that it can.

Through her 42-marathon journey, Jess wanted to show that it is possible to carry grief while still finding reasons to live, laugh, challenge yourself and be happy. She hopes her story can offer comfort and hope to others who are struggling with loss, and remind them that they are not alone.

This challenge also raised money for two incredible causes:

💙 Big Moose Charity — a charity that has helped Jess and so many others access therapy when they needed it most.

🚁 Derbyshire Air Ambulance — the incredible team who attended Eddie's accident. As the air ambulance isn't funded by the NHS, donations are vital in helping them continue their life-saving work.
