Today I demonstrate a spinoff of the deconstructed bloom technique that I'll call The Deconstructed Landscape!
If you're interested in trying a deconstructed landscape painting, then this video is for you! We'll be discussing the composition, colors, and techniques used to create this painting, and how you can apply them to your own work. Colors/Brands/Pouring Medium Recipe:
House Paint-base aka puddle for the substrate:
PPG Multi-Pro in Eggshell.
Pouring Medium aka PM Recipe-mix with all colors EXCEPT the cell activator:
Behr 8300 Untinted Deep Base Paint (Home Depot); JoSonja Gloss Varnish 2:1 ratio paint to varnish. Mix well.
Brands/Colors mixed:
This Little Piggy (TLP) pigments in Hammerhead and Sea Glass; Pebeo Studio Acrylics in Iridescent Blue-Black.
Golden and Da Vinci Fluid Acrylics-- I put about 2-2 1/2 ounces of the pouring medium into a 3 ounce cup, then squirt in color until I reach my desired shade. Mix well.
For tube paint, I added an ounce of paint (heaping tablespoon) to a 3 ounce cup, then added 2 ounces of pouring medium. If still thick then I'll add a teaspoon of varnish/water to thin. (I make a bottle of "Jo-Wa" by adding 1/3 JoSonja Gloss Varnish and the rest water, and keep it in a squeeze bottle and use as my "water.")
All pigments are 1/8th tsp. pre-disbursed with a small amount of JoSonja Varnish to wet it (stir really well), then add into a 3 oz. cup of Pouring Medium; stir well.
Cell Activator Color:
Australian Floetrol + Amsterdam Lamp Black. 3:1 ratio Floetrol to paint.
