Here are the four things that are stopping most AI apps from making it to production — straight from the floor of the AI Engineer World Fair.

1. Evals — if you can't measure how your models and agents are performing, you have no idea whether they're telling your users the truth.
2. Guardrails — PII leaks and sensitive data exposure happen without them. Catch it before it reaches the public.
3. Observability — on cost and on performance. Set a max turn limit, monitor your token spend, and make sure answers are actually reaching users the right way.
4. Memory systems and grounding — RAG alone isn't enough. Your AI needs to learn from users and carry that forward across sessions, not start from scratch every time.
