Day 2 of our New Oregon BDR trip began halfway through ORBDR section 2 at Thompson Reservoir. After finishing the last half of section 1 in record time, we hopped onto New Oregon BDR section 3 at Chemult. The first half of Oregon Backcountry Discovery Route section 3 is all new and started out with a "gravel highway" for the first 30 miles or so. We were averaging 50 miles per hour on our dual sport motorcycles and were making great time.

Just past the turn off to Paulina Lake...that all changed. The ORBDR is very easy for the first two and a half sections but at that point it became a bit more challenging with more sand, deep ruts, and a lot of rocky sections. We fought our way through to the end of ORBDR section 3 and enjoyed a brief stop in Sunriver before deciding to skip ahead to Bend and grab a hotel for the night.
