SLATE TOOL
Using the slate tool helps with organizing my clips when filming a lot of content. As of late last year, I use the slate to keep track of the lenses I use when putting together my reviews and testing them. Swipe left or right of your display screen and the slate will appear. It'll be best to set up your slate first before shooting. As you can see here, it'll add this metadata to the next clip - any previous clips will not have this information. The main clips menu I use the slate at the time being. But heading into the Lens data menu and project is where I set up the information I need. Everything is pretty straight forward.
ISO 800
I rarely use the native iso of 400 when filming in daylight. The reason being is that I can get a full stop in my highlights at ISO 800 or 1000. But of course, to some degree exposure is subjective to some extent and driven by your intentions as a cinematographer. But in the conversation of basic exposure in exterior scenes - I start at 800 if I am trying to retain as much detail in my highlights.
PRESETS
You can save your exact camera settings as a present. Every little change you made from the record settings, monitor, audio and setup can be saved as a present.
Here's how.
Let's say you want two different modes for filming.
in the record menu, you want to have BRAW 8:1, 4K 2.4:1, at 60 fps, monitor ... audio ... setup F1, F2, F3...
now you just save that as a present, hit the plus button and name it.
TOGGLE VS PRESET
Toggle and preset are very interesting in my experience. as of right now I have my presents set to ISO 800, 1250, and 3200 for F1, F2, and F3. You can also have F1 or F2 be either preset or toggle as you can see here.
It would be nice if the toggle option could which between your camera presets. Ultimately I also change my camera settings ahead of a shoot based on what might be needed so I can be as efficient as possible.
