Donovan Gems! 1968 re-recording of Colours and Catch the Wind. #vinylcommunity

vinylstockholm 2024-09-05 | I'm breaking my "no best of albums" policy with Donovan's Greatest Hits from 1969. Why? Because it contains unique and fantastic re-recordings of "Catch the Wind" and "Colours" with Big Jim Sullivan playing guitar, John Paul Jones on bass and keyboards and Clem Cattini on drums. Epic Records could not obtain the right to release the original recordings of these two songs, so Donovan recorded new versions in May 1968 with a full backing band and a lavish production by Mickie Most.

”Hey Ho Trip and Go” by Friendly Antenna. [psych pop indie rock]

vinylstockholm 2022-11-18 | A psychedelic rock track based on some old lyrics by Syd Barrett, or actually by the English poet Sir Henry Newbolt. Long story short: In 1968 Syd took some lyrics from an old nursery rhyme called "Rilloby-Rill" for his song "Octopus". Now Friendly Antenna has made a song about it. A tribute to Syd, psychedelic London and the UFO club. It's all in the song.
