Lunar Snowfall Lo-Fi Hip Hop

GhostXb 2021-12-25 | I was in the mood to do a Christmas themed LoFi Hip Hop song and this is what I came up with.

While looking for art I found this piece by Plainoasis and imagined this being the soundtrack to a cold winter night as Luna reminisces on her past. Something about the beauty of winter really just brings out a nostalgic mood in me. Hope you guys enjoy it!

GhostXb 2021-12-10 | Here's an ambient orchestral piece inspired by Luna. I like to imagine she takes you on a fantastical journey inspired by your imagination. I really like when music can inspire a surreal feeling which is what I was going for with this.

I kind of want to do another version inspired by Celestia. Now that I think of it, the "dreamy" theme might not be as relevant but perhaps the idea of time can be awe inspiring...

I'll have to explore some "Celestia" themes, but in the mean time, I hope you enjoy this piece.

GhostXb 2021-12-08 | Here's a symphonic metal piece commissioned by The Nameless One for their pony DnD campaign. It's a boss theme for their character Vorigan Dragon. Art is unrelated but it's by Vitaj and was a commission by me for a project I never ended up finishing.

I had fun with this one. I don't get around to doing symphonic metal these days even though it was my thing for a while, I would like to explore the genre further at some point.

GhostXb 2020-11-15 | Here we have a gypsy jazz song inspired by the classic "The Gypsy Bard". StealingShad3z did a great job with the lyrics and vocals! This was featured on the State of Sugar album "waffle" you can check it out in the link below!

This took me way too long to get around to uploading. I even had the artwork commissioned about a year ago and it was just waiting to be used. Around that time I encountered some rather stressful workloads at work and it killed my motivation, and after that, I just didn't have the motivation to get back into youtube. Heck this whole uploading and writing description business feels weird to me cause I haven't done it in so long. I'm not exactly sure what direction I'll be going in from here but rest assured, music is still my passion.

Apex Legends Season 3 Day 1

GhostXb 2019-10-02 | Just thought I'd share some clips from my first day of season 3 of Apex Legends. So far I'm loving the new map and changes. I really like the Hemlock now. Crypto is a lot of fun, but so far I'm not convinced he's good for competitive. Unless you can get a lot of value out of the EMP and scouting, being out of a fight to scout doesn't seem worth it.

GhostXb 2019-02-05 | Hey guys, it's been a while...yet again :( I haven't been very active these past couple years musically. I have bursts of inspiration once in a while which will result in an upload or two, but then they wither away.

To be honest. I think a part of it is playing this silly Youtube game. Trying to figure out what to do with my channel, how to market it, wondering how I will make it grow, trying to stay relevant, being disappointed. In the process I think I lost my love for making music. So I decided I'm just gonna force myself to make music for the love of it. I'm not concerned with a specific theme, or how well it will be received, or how "pony" it is. I just want to make the kind of music I love and explore the possibilities in a reckless and child like manner, the way I used to back in the day. I'll make an album of it and see where it goes. This is a taste of what I have in mind for the album.

GhostXb 2018-09-22 | Hey guys, I got another chill Hip-hop track featuring a great rap performance by Acarion and TheWanderingKit, and some lovely vocals by my friend Angel Love! I was inspired to do this piece after seeing this art by Holivi and I just imagined a chill summer song that could go with it.

Hope you guys enjoy! Working with other lyricists and rappers was a great experience and I'm quite pleased with the result. This actually isn't the first time I've worked with Acarion and TheWanderingKit. GhostXb - Take Me Away [Ambient / Orchestral]

GhostXb 2017-11-29 | This was a very experimental ambient piece I've been working on. It's also my longest video yet! I did a lot of experimenting in terms of sound design to see what kind of atmospheres I can get. Some of the techniques I used was paul stretching, and analyzing sound files and converting it to midi to get unpredictable instrumentation like in the guitars and the orchestral instruments later.

GhostXb 2017-11-13 | Here's a cover of Contender by The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. It's one of a favorite songs by them, and it was also a great way to excersise my production skills as it's a fairly simple song to reproduce but also put my own spin on. I was struggling with the vocals at first. I was going for an 80's ethereal sound and after hours of tweaking and experimenting I got the sound I was going for. Shifting my voice up an octave really helped and it kinda sounds like I got a female backup singer XD! Also for now this is the closest you'll get to a face reveal :b

This year has been especially difficult for me in regards to my mental health. I've been really struggling with depression and it's not getting any better, it's getting much much worse. I may talk about it in depth in the future, but know I will be seeing a doctor about it tomorrow. Hopefully this will result in some sort of solution. I really want to get back to my former self where I'm feeling more productive and not feeling like shit all the time. These past few months I've felt so distant and disassociated with everyone and everything, including music. While music has always been my crutch, even that is starting to fail me. I'm just not really sure what to do with myself these days...

I forced myself to upload this because I've been so frustrated that I haven't really been doing anything lately. Hopefully it will be enough to get things going again.

As for this song. It's actually over a year old, just finally decided to release it. While it may be old, the feelings I put into it are still relevant.

GhostXb 2017-07-24 | Hey guys, its finally here, the song I submitted to Ponies at Dawn: Guardians, featuring the beautiful voice of BriLizy T! This song is inspired by Sunset Shimmer and I would place it just after the first Equestria Girls movie.

I was never quite satisfied with how fast Sunset Shimmer turned on a dime from being a queen bitch her whole life then being good gal Shimmer who everyone can rely on. I'd imagine that the transition would have taken much longer and be more difficult then the movies would have you believe. I almost think there should have been another movie between the first one and Rainbow Rocks XD! I played with the idea of writing a fanfic to try to flesh that part out but for now, have a song :)

Toccata and Fugue Metal (Visualization Test)

GhostXb 2017-01-18 | Just something I put together to test the effectiveness of some visualization techniques I learned. What better way to test melodic visualization then from the melodic harmony master himself! I just took some midi data of the latter half of Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor and metalized it for this video.

I actually learned how to do this in the Adagio's Adagio video, but I did something rather simple with it. I wanted to see what else I could do.

Mixing and production wise prob not my best effort but that wasn't really the point of this video anyways XD!

GhostXb - Adagios Adagio (Ft. Maria Grigoryeva)

GhostXb 2017-01-15 | I wrote an Adagio for Adagio XD! Having lost her ability to sing following the movie, I think it would only be appropriate for her to attempt to express her feelings through other means. My interpretation of Adagio is mainly based on stories like Open Door and head cannon ideas of her hidden compassion of the other Dazzlings, feeling responsible for them, and having failed. Also, considering the possibility of their immortality, I think she would have a lot to say after all that time, even if they aren't in words.

Having spent so much time on this, and having been over two months since my last song upload, I'm actually a bit nervous about this. Despite that I'm always open to feedback in the hopes of improving. I hope to get back into the swing of things by opening this year with one of my more ambitious pieces.

About This Song (TLDR Section XD!)

This is one of those ideas I've had for a long time but have been putting off for the right inspiration. I also don't think I could have pulled it off with my previous knowledge. In fact, my previous Dazzlings album had many ideas that I ended up not following through with because I simply didn't have the musical knowledge to pull it off well, but I've come so far since then. Over the course of a few weeks, I've re-written this from scratch four times because I was struggling to get the right feel. One version was musically pleasing, but it ended on a Dorian scale and sounded triumphant and that wasn't really what I was going for. I wanted to write a piece that was thematically appropriate and had intent and purpose behind it, not just a (first decent thing I come up with and slap Adagio's name on it) kind of thing. Eventually I came up with this. To start off with it constantly modulates between two minor keys to maintain a dark, unsettling feeling, the kind of mood we'd expect from Adagio, and then it opens up into something much more raw and powerful, like Adagio expressing her self more honestly and openly when she believes no one is around to witness it. Being stubborn and overly proud, I don't think she could bare to let anyone, especially the other Dazzlings, see her more vulnerable side. Hence the desolate winter setting. Also living in Canada, I'm automatically prone to winter themes during winter XD!

On the subject of writing things with intent. One of the biggest challenges I faced with making music for Ambient White, is learning how to achieve a feeling and mood that doesn't always conveniently fit in your comfort zone. Sometimes, the right feeling and inspiration is beyond your reach and you have to push yourself to achieve it.

GhostXb - Gallant Girls

GhostXb 2016-10-30 | Thought I'd make a heroic theme for those cheesy (but awesome) costumes from Legend of Everfree. I tend to favor strings a lot in my compositions. So for this one, I thought I'd give more spotlight to Winds and Brass. I'm quite pleased with the heroic feel of this one. Let me know what you guys think :)
