The new iPhone 15 Pro Beta has built-in 3D video recording capabilities (Apple being Apple had to call it something different though, "Spatial video").
You can use this app: testflight.apple.com/join/EEFFsOzJ to convert it to a SBS 3D format to be viewed on a Meta Quest or any other VR headset until native MV-HEVC players are released.
As long as 3D video has been around, this is the first time that it's posed to go mainstream with the functionality built into everyone's existing phone (assuming they have the latest one)
