Part of the “3DGS Gaming Series,” this one is part of the “RE9_xxxx” in particular, one of the better cutscenes in the game, notable for its camera angles, depth of field, lighting, and most important — the motion & facial capture creating a convincing interaction between these two characters. Also notable is how tiny Grace is compared to the Dr. Victor Gideon in the 3DGS.

Notes:

The following open source products were used in this series creation:

OTIS_INF — A virtual camera WIndows app that gives most AAA games the ability to add a virtual camera for image and video capture. Using a number of parameters, including camera paths, it was easy to capture video conducive for 3DGS creation. (patreon.com/cw/Otis_Inf)

FFMPEG — The go to command line Swiss Army Knife tool for video and image manipulation, compression, conversion extraction. Here it used to extract frame images at specific rate to allow enough overlap in each frame for photogrammetry and point cloud creation. (ffmpeg.org/)

COLMAP — The popular opensource tool available on ALL platforms for obtaining virtual camera locations and points in 3D space (point cloud), along with the means to adjust images to reduce geometric distortion. (colmap.github.io/)

Brush — An open source multi-platform Gaussian Splat training & rendering app that can take COLMAP exports directly for the conversion. Output is exported as stand 3DGS .ply file. (github.com/ArthurBrussee/brush)

SuperSplat — A 3DGS viewer, editor and compression tool to create standalone files, or exported as part of web viewer container or html/java folder for easy upload to your website (https://superspl.at/editor)

All products are free, except OTIS_INF which is supported via Patreon
