A $360 brewer that looks like a French press—but brews in reverse? Meet the Weber Workshops Bird, a high-end immersion brewer that claims to be an heirloom coffee tool. But does that price tag actually make sense, or is this just an overpriced, overengineered luxury?
➡️ In this review, we put the Bird to the test, break down its design, functionality, and coffee quality, and ask the real question: Is it 9x better than an Aeropress? Plus, we bring in a non-coffee enthusiast perspective to see if the experience justifies the price.
📌 What You’ll Learn in This Video:
How the Weber Bird brews “in reverse” and why that’s unique
Is it actually better than a French press or Aeropress?
The high-end materials & craftsmanship behind the design
The trade-offs: Is it worth it, or just coffee gadget overkill?
🔥 Would YOU spend $360 on a brewer? Let’s talk in the comments!

Is this the dripper that has finally won her over? The ODZ looks incredible, but can it brew too? Lets dive in and take a closer look at the ODZ dripper, with a little sidebar on how to get your partner into coffee stuff.
Two Recipes I used!
1 - My Basic 5 Pour - Slightly modified from James Hoffmans Recipe below
16g ground coffee, water heated to 201F
[0:00] - Bloom with 50g water
[0:50] - 50ml pour over 10 Seconds (100ml Total)
[1:00] - Pause 10 seconds
[1:10] - 50ml pour over 10 Seconds (150ml Total)
[1:20] - Pause 10 seconds
[1:30] - 50ml pour over 10 Seconds (200ml Total)
[1:40] - Pause 10 seconds
[1:50] - 50ml pour over 10 Seconds (250ml Total)
[2:20-2:45] - Final Draw down of brew.
If the pours are flowing extremely fast, just lengthen out the pauses between pours to try and hit the final total brew time and go finer on your grind next time.
2 - ODZ Suggested Bright and Fruity Brew
15g ground coffee, very fine, water heated to 201F
[0:00] - Bloom with 35g water
[0:25] - Pour 90g water (125g total)
[0:45] - Pour 50g water (175g total)
[1:00] - Pour 50 G Water (225g total)
[1:30] Final draw down of brew.
