Hi all! This is a continuation of video #353--using those greens and golds but instead of Payne's Gray as my cell activator color, I went with Carbon Black. It made a completely different look to this deconstructed bloom! This is a 10"x20' gallery wrapped canvas. Dried results of both paintings are at the end of the video--let me know your preference! I hope you enjoy my take on the blooms technique; bloom recipe is below. Colors/Brands/Bloom Recipe:
House Paint-base aka puddle for the canvas:
Glidden Premium White in SemiGloss -- 4 cup batch mixed with 1/4 cup Golden GAC800 to prevent crazing.
Pouring Medium aka PM—mix with all colors EXCEPT the cell activator:
Behr Interior/Exterior Hi-Gloss Enamel Untinted Deep Base Paint (#8300 from Home Depot); Minwax Polyacrylic Gloss (Lowe's) ; 2:1 ratio paint to varnish. Mix well.
Brands/Colors mixed:
Pebeo Studio Acrylics in Iridescent Precious Gold
Arteza Pearl Olive Green, Pearl Pistachio Green,
ColourArte Pigment in Autumn Leaf
Golden Fluid Acrylics-- I put about 2-2 1/2 ounces of the pouring medium into a 3 ounce cup, then squirt in color until I reach my desired shade.
For tube paint, I added an ounce of paint (heaping tablespoon) to a 3 ounce cup, then added 2 ounces of pouring medium. If still thick then I'll add a teaspoon of varnish to thin.
All pigments are 1/8th tsp. pre-disbursed with a small amount of JoSonja Varnish to wet it, then added into 3 oz. cup of Pouring Medium; stir well.
Cell Activator (last color on your puddle before you swipe or blow it out—no PM):
Australian Floetrol + Golden Carbon Black. 3:1 ratio Floetrol to paint
